Weird Feeling in chest

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on August 17th and lately as I'm progressing to soft foods and even mushy I get this feeling in my chest maybe like the food getting stuck maybe? I'm not sure what that the stuck feeling feels like? It hurts pretty bad and feels like I'm going to throw up. It could happen on my first bite so it's not when Im getting full. Ive tried taking smaller bites and chewing much much more. Still happens. Any advise?

Since you were just banded it could be that your band isnt ready for the food you are eating. I know that when I cheated once before it was time, it hurt to eat that kind of food. You might be swollen still.

Maybe stay on liquids for a while longer and contact your doctor if you really worried.

Go back to fluids for a day or two, and then try the soft foods again. You may still be a little swollen.

thanks I think its just a trial and error thing with soft foods. Boy does it suck though when it hurts.

I was banded the same day as you! I have had some discomfort as i switch to mushies. It's helped me to aet a lot slower. I hope we can stay in touch since we are on the same time frame. When do you get filled? I get filled on Sept. 28th.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
