BANDED on 8/26-went FINE!!

Recommended Posts

Good luck to all of you waiting to be banded:thumbup: I am so glad mine is done since I had so much anxiety pre-op about complications, pain, etc. My operation went very well. I did have a hernia which they repaired and was in surgery 1 1/2 hours. No nausea or vomitting. They did give me meds for that in my IV. Ice chips and Water on day one. Needed pain meds but my pain level was only once at a "6". I am one week out now and down seven pounds!! Beware of the GAS PAIN -make sure you have adequate pain meds at home and nausea meds in case the pain meds make you feel sick-you don't want to be throwing up! My gas pain is almost gone now. Still some incisional pain and a little port pain-but not bad. I started missing real food yesterday. Looking forward to mushies on week four--take care all:redface:

I getting done next Friday and was wondering how you felt when you woke up from surgery. I saw my Dr. yesterday and he has done about 900 of these.

When I first woke up I was a little confused and somewhat sore. I asked the nurse for pain meds right away because I am not one to needlessly suffer. My surgery started about 9:45 am and by the time they took me from recovery to ICU (apparently all bariatric patients spend the night in ICU there) it was between 2-3 pm and I was excited because One Life to Live was on. I had my morphine pump by then and was cool.

I woke up at around 4:30 AM with a killer headache and asked for Tylenol, they didn't want to give it to me because they said the morphine should be enough, but it wasn't, so I insisted.

First 2 days home I was pretty uncomfortable, but it gets a little more comfortable every day. I'm 9 days post op and took my daughter to the mall that Tuesday (5 days post op).

So, so far so good. The worst part for me is the tightening in the mornings. I feel the band every morning, in fact it wakes me up and I have to change position.

Good Luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
