1 week post-surgery and losing weight!

Recommended Posts

Hi to all, I had my lapband surgery a week ago and am doing much better. sleeping just fine, got cabin fever and have been out and about since last tuesday, but did too much- got really tired and sore again. I have port pain, some intestinal issues, am still doing ibuprofen 600 mgs daily, see the doc today for 1-week followup. Am still on liquids for another week. These shakes from the doc's office are drinkable only if over-diluted and blended with fresh fruit... really bad. I am so craving real food... but the good news is I'm down 16+ lbs in 3 weeks, so the 2-weeks pre-surgery liquids plus this last week have seen lotsa weight lost!!! Good kick-start, would be so sweet if it continued but I know it will slow down - but I want REAL FOOD! I'm even craving fish, which I don't even like... anyway just checking in, to all who may be interested, good book I've used a LOT is 'Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band' by Robert W. Sewell. Great resource, lots of detail. To those looking at upcoming surgery, stay positive. It's scary, but for the first time in a gazillion years I feel hopeful about my future health and ability to live the life I want....hopefully you will too.... :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
