Challenge: To Be A Blessing

Recommended Posts

This thought is stemed from Delarla's thread "The Greatest Gift..."

I challenge everyone to make one phone call, send a card or bake some Cookies for someone you don't normally get in contact with. Do this for someone who looks like they have everything or someone you know who needs a pick me up.

Encourage someone who is on a diet to keep up the great work. I love this one.

It feels great when someone calls me just to say hi or I was thinking about you.

Teresa, while DeLarla is responsible for many a great threads on this board...pamstransky started the greatest gift thread...and it's a goodie, I agree!

I'm taking your challenge. I'll post what I come up with!!

Hmmm, wonder who I can bless today!

On a funny note, lol, my dad's favorite phrase is, "Just trying to be a blessing..." He uses it mostly when he's being a brat, heh. Makes my mom laugh every time! :( He gets the cutest twinkle in his eye. Come to think of it, so does my husband! Guess I know why I married him!

I'll take the challenge, too. I keep a card on my desk with a saying I love:

Master the art of tenderness. We are all tired of having our hearts and spirits broken by the absence of tenderness in the world.

That's something I've found on this board as well as fun and information...tender hearts that lift each other up. Thank you to all of you, and hopefully I can be a blessing to people I meet each day, too.

Emily

I just read this thread again, and thought it worth bumping. Please especially remember to be a blessing on the road. There are so many aggressive drivers. Let someone merge into your lane...you're still going to get there, and the other driver will be grateful. If it's me, I'll even wave! Oh, and leave some space between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Let's all be road angels instead of road warriors this week!

Blessings to all, Cindy

Great idea! Guess I missed this sometime in the past. I've had some things on mind, in this line of thinking. Specifically, there is this guy at work who, God bless him, is the grumpiest, most unfriendly character. You speak in the hall and he literally growls back at you. :) I've heard it said that his former wife was an addict and I know that he has his 3 children and has been raising them himself. Several days now, it's been on my heart to do something kind for him on 'Mother's Day' - now to think of something appropriate. Hmm...

I love the "Road Angel" idea, too! Since I tend to be testy when I'm in a hurry, this will be a challenge for me, but I think it's one worth doing.

Thanks for the idea!

Emily

Great thread!! I take the challenge. Don't miss out on a blessing.....give from your heart!!

I often look for elderly people at places like Wal-Mart that are by themselves and offer to help them load their groceries (my boys are usually contained in the cart). :) I think of all the times my grandma & MIL needed help and even my own mom today with neuropathy. I've also been known to ask the help of sturdy young studs when I had back problems loading Water & such. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
