Weepy today - please pray for me!

Recommended Posts

Hi - It's so silly to feel this way -- tomorrow I start my 6-week pre-op diet. Not the worst thing in the world, I know, but I'm sure acting like it is! It's not required by insurance but my doc wants to "de-fat" my liver so surgery will be safer. I need to do a modified Meal Replacement diet -- shakes and Protein Bars and then a 500 cal meal at night. I'm just overwhelmed at the thought of it because I am such a failure at dieting. Why will this time be any different? I am really motivated! I want to do it and just got back from costco after buying all the right things to do it well. I get very determined and then it one weak second, I'll eat whatever before I even have time to think, pray, or get on the forum and ask for help. That's why I feel weepy; I want to do it well for myself, my fam, & God, but I feel this will be the hardest part of all. Please pray that I can somewhere, somehow find God's strength and help in those weak moments so I can go into the surgery with a safe weight loss, with an attitude that has changed from, "I'm a failure" to "I just did great!" and with a good testimony of God' ever present help in time of trouble! Thanks!

I will be praying for you. I too feel some of the same thoughts. Our sermon today at church was that God was more than enough. He is big enough to help you through this struggle. He loves us so much. As a father loves His children. our heavenly Father loves us so much more. Be strong in th Lord and others will be praying for you. Be blessed today and be proud of yourself for giving your body a second chance!

Here is how I made it through the pre and post op diets.

"I can do it today, I don't know what will happen tomorrow but for today I can follow this diet!"

One time I was riding my motorcycle and a cold front came through. I was about 30 miles from home and it was 40 degrees. I had ridden that road many times so I knew the road and that is how I got myself home. "I can make it to the next stop sign, then I will see if I can go on." When I got to the next stop sign, I would make another deal. "OK I can make it to the next turn and then I will see if I can go on." One step at a time. I day, 1 hour, 1 meal. Break it up into manageable parts.

Good luck! Your stronger than you think.

LeighaMason - Wow, that is such a great application. And you did make it home, didn't you? (on the motorcycle?) And your picture shows a THIN woman who has succeeded with this journey too. It's funny, my MIL wanted to drive by herself to FL (from MI) once and I was trying to talk her out of it. She said, "I'm not going to drive to FL - I'm just going to drive to the next town. That's no big deal. And then when I get there, I'll drive to the next town, and before I know it, I'll be in FL." I always loved that attitude but never once applied it to my weight loss. With your guidance, I will. SOOO, tomorrow, I only have to make it through the first hour and then, when I do, I'll go for the next hour. And, when I do, I'll think of being thankful to you for sharing. Blessings!

want.to.be.healthy,

I will be praying for you. Six weeks seems like a long time but it will past fast. Look what you have waiting for you at the end of 6 weeks.

Everytime I get off track from doing low carbs it takes me a couple of days to get it started again. It is like the minute I say I am starting low carb again I feel “deprived” , It is not like someone is coming in and locking up all the food but it feels like it. But once I have the willpower to make it 3 days I feels so much better. We let food control us. You sound like a very strong lady and I have faith in you that you can do what you you need to do to make yourself ready for surgery.

Please know at times it is a struggle for all of us. But as Christians we have the added benefit of never being alone, even in our thoughts. God knows our struggles and promised we would not have to go through them alone. He cares about all our struggles even small things like food. Lean upon Him at this time make it a time to get closer to Him. I could not have done my year without calling out to Him. I had lost my best friend food and we grieved together and then moved on.

I will be praying for you!

Cheri

Hi Cheri - Thanks so much for your encouraging words. The good news is, I haven't felt weepy today after DAY 1 of the pre-op six week diet I have to do. I have defiinitely felt the prayer of fellow Christians as I breezed through the day. Right NOW is my hardest time. I want to eat something before bed and I will not make a healthy decision if I do. So, I guess the best defense would be just to go to bed. We don't keep food in there!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
