lost 5 lbs in 5 months - help!

Recommended Posts

I have lost about 5 lbs since March. I had my last fill in March. I am at 6.8 on my fill. I can't eat much most of the time. My husband says that I am not getting enough to eat. I get about 1,000 a day. I walk 3-4 miles 3-4 times a week. I don't know what to do. I want to get another fill, but I am afraid that I won't be able to eat at all. Anyone else having this problem? I am so frustrated and ready to give up.:smile2:

I was doing the same thing, low number of calories (800 to 900 per day) plus exercising every day, and stalled out for three weeks. I decided to up my calories and voila, it started coming off again. I've only had one fill but will keep it that way for awhile because it's difficult to get even 1200 calories in without always feeling stuffed.

It sounds as though you maybe too tight. If you cannot eat are you resorting to high cal easy to eat slider foods? The answer may be that you need some fill removed. That should allow you to eat healthy foods that fill you up for longer and are lower in calories. i would make an appointment and discuss it with your dr. Sometimes just the tiniest amount out can make a huge difference.

Hey, thanks for the input! I have contacted my doctor's office and I have an appointment set up for Tuesday. The nurse thinks I need a little taken out....makes no sense to me. Seems strange to have to eat more in order to lose weight. But...I will talk to the doc and see what he thinks. Thanks again! Have a great day!

It makes sense if you think that the more quantity may actually be lower in calories than what you are currently eating. Solid foods such as chicken, fish etc are far lower in calories than foods such as icecream, yogurt, chocolate, shakes etc which are what people often resort to when they are too tight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
