Where am I?

Recommended Posts

Was banded on 6/14 and had my 3rd fill today. I go in every 2 weeks. Not sure how much Fluid was added today but I had to sip Water very slowly after my fill. My Dr. likes you to be on liquids for a day and then on to mushies after a fill. So. . today I just did liquids. I was able to drink a Protein Shake when I got home. . and later a 16 oz bottle of water. Nothing came back up and all was well. Later this evening, I had about 1 cup of Tomato Soup (made w/water) and geez-o. . slim-o-rama! :smile2: I didn't vomit, but slimed for about 40 min. I'm wondering if I ate it too fast, or perhaps I'm overfilled? I have no problem going back and getting an unfill...I'm just not sure if this is normal. Perhaps I should wait a day or two. .. eat much slower (I'm used to being able to shovel). Any thoughts or words of wisdom? Thanks!!

How have things been going since then? I would say get some of that fill taken out. What did you end up doing?

Hi Annie,

Well, I just went back to the dr. today. It's gotten a little better. I felt like the nurse wasn't really listening to me and just rushed me through the appointment. Hindsight..I would have stayed and MADE her answer my questions but I just sat there like a passive bump on a log. So..my plan is to really be cautious of how fast I'm eating and how well I'm chewing (which is never enough!). If that doesn't work..I'm going back for an unfill. Sliming everyday is NOO good. Thanks for asking! :)

Sun-

I always experience some swelling with fills and it can take me 2 weeks to see where I really am. I would take it slow and if you are unable to keep liquids down I would definitely get an unfill. Otherwise I would just be very careful for the next few days. My doc advises several days of liquids - so maybe that would be easier for a few days and slowly ease into mushies then solids after that.

Hope you are doing okay!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
