Ok, this is not a total negative post. I have a date- 8/24. I have to lose 12 pounds before then or it gets postponed. Dr didn't give me any specific pre op diet- I am on my own. I am having a hard time, and this is only day 2. Does anyone have suggestions of how to do this seemingly monumental task?

I am excited about this, but freaked out too. I don't know how to explain. I went to baskin robbins, not my idea, after my kids' karate class. My mom bought them ice cream, and I had a cup of ice Water. the smell almost brought me to tears I wanted it so badly.

I know this will be ok in the end, but getting through the next few weeks is as far as I am thinking right now.

I need to find a good soy shake- lactose intolerant. I love the whey shakes and have used them, but they are what brought my milk issues to light. Unjury seems to be a fav, but they only have whey, and I can't use that. I am seriously stressing out.

I was using Unjury with Water and crystal light. You can get unflavored unjury and it isnt bad and has a ton of protien in it

Thanks, but Unjury is whey, and I can't have that. I am so jonesing right now- sugar is obviously addictive since I am having cravings. I am even shaking.

Beachbunny, how long have you been on that pre-op diet? I'm replacing Breakfast and lunch with a high Protein Shake, and then for dinner, I have either a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones frozen dinner. I think I need to switch to the Isopure!

Ive been on it a week and a half. Lost over 12 lbs ....Isopure is the bomb. Dutch chocolate is the best FYI

Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you.

If the doctors think we can lose weight that quick, why would we need the band.

Sometimes I just don't get it. There is a magic number for getting the band????

Sorry for the rant; but some of these doctors make me so mad.

I can lose weight fast short term- it is long term that is the problem. He said the reason was to shrink my liver, which apparently sits on top of the stomach, to make surgery less risky. Also, it shrinks your neck size, where most people lose weight first, which makes the anesthesia work better.

I can do this, it just is for a few days!!

I went to BR31 with my mom and kids and ordered WATER!! The smell was so hard to resist, but I did it!! Then we had dinner at family's last night with homemade banana cream pudding, and I left the table and chewed on gum. I am so going to do this!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
