Went for 1st fill - didnt need it

So I went for my 1st fill today. Kind of nervously excited about it. Since I don't have a scale at home I didn't know if I've lost any weight this past month since my last check-up (so 6 wks post-op). I lost 10 lbs in the last 4 wks! :)

Nut said no reason to give me a fill since I've done so well. He said to come back in 4-6 wks, but if I felt hungrier I could come back sooner.

I know it's hard to judge, but do you think I'll be on of those lucky ones who doesn't need a fill? Or does this staying full last only so long? He said I probably have about 2 cc's in my band from surgery.

It's a little strange, but I almost feel a little sad I didn't get a fill. Nut laughed and said he could poke me with the needle if I wanted!

I'm just glad I'm still losing. I was so afraid I'd be one of those that didn't lose anything.

You could be one of the lucky ones! I'm in the same boat. I went in for my first fill about a month or so back and told my surgeon I'm not hungry at all and I had lost a lot more weight since surgery. He made a comment that I'm doing better than a bypass patient. Who knows!

I'm still losing today, without a fill, though I've hit some plateaus, but they're to be expected.

Good luck! :)

My first fill was postponed too. By the time I went back I couldn't wait toget my fill because I was so starving!! I got 1cc filled for a total of 4. He said he'd see me in 6-8 weeks but I'm going back in 4 (which will be this tues) because I feel like my portions are too large and I'm still hungry. I'm thinking maybe I was still swollen when I originally went in for a fill. It's definitely a matter of what you eat as well and with that said it's going to be a learning process!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
