Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

This forum is so much better than the Aussie one I was on.

I love this forum. I have been on an Australian one, a yahoo group, and it is run by tyrants. You are NEVER allowed to post a new thread, you MUST go to the General Questions thread and just throw it in there and hope for the best. Which means the first pages never change, the same spotlight hoggers (us normal ones on the site call them the Thread Police) are the ones writing everything, it is boring and you are always getting yelled at! I come home and read my posts and it puts me in a bad mood, and I am sure you are not supposed to get in a bad mood from a gastric banding help site. The "police" are all nasty and judgemental, and Thank God, I am happy I came across this site. I love America! I used to live there, I should have never come home. Thank you guys for being the best!

I agree. I assume you are talking about ozband? I get the digests but have never posted. Lately all they seem to do on the forum is band bash, promote the sleeve, fight with each other etc. It is also not set up in user friendly way like this site is. Here it is easy to get updates on the threads you are subscribed to which doesn't happen on the yahoo groups.

But you do have to remember that the info on this site is American and that in Aus we do things differently. Most of our Dr's do not recommend high Protein or low carb, they do not tell us to eat only 1/2 cup of food and our insurance is completely different.

Enjoy the site and hopefully you will get the help here that you are looking for. And if you feel the need to talk to a fellow Aussie feel free to PM me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
