I was banded June 24, I've healed well, lost 30 pounds and eat reasonably well.

The thing is this morning I woke up with this ACHE where my port is. Hurts all the time and hurts more if I cough. So my question is, should I go to the hospital or tough it out?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I would call your surgeon and see what he says. I have been banded a little over a year and never really experienced any port pain except for when I was initially banded.

Have you been doing any stomach crunches? I did and now my band and port hurts....over zealous. If that's not it...then I'd call my doc as well.

I have been doing alot around the house this past week...moving furniture and painting. My port area is also sore and sensitive. I am thinking nothing is wrong, the pain has subsided a lot now that I am done with my chores around house. I would just take it easy for a few days!

It's not an emergency unless you're running a temperature so you'll need to call on Monday. Unless you're sick, it's red and puffy, etc, you should be OK until monday.

If it continues to bother you, I would call the dr. I have had twinges or slight pain when I twist or stretch but not severe pain. You might have pulled a suture (or however you spell it) around the port. I thought I did that early one but I was fine.

Keep an eye on it and if you have doubts, better to call than to be sorry! That is what My Dr told me!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
