Your threads are very profound. I appreciate your candid honesty, truly I do. Since joining this site in June 2009 I have lost 70 lbs and gone down from a womens size 24 to a misses size 16. While I feel great I still have another 40 or so pounds to reach goal. But the attention has already started and I can feel myself getting scared. It's like my weight is my hiding place and as it strips away I'm feeling very exposed. Emotionally I'm starting to "trip" if you will. I'm glad to know that this can be normal for some people. Thank you for your inspirations. And I'm sorry for your emotional anguish, I'll keep you in my thoughts. ~Tracy

I still go to support group, havent missed a month since i had my surgery, and i go for alot of reasons, for myself to stay motivated and to be there to answer the questions for future bandsters who are stuggling with the choice and have questions that only a current bandster can truthfully answer. its unfortunate that the "psyc" component really doesnt prepare people for the changes that come with weight loss. i truely belive that the screening is a fricken joke. fill out a questionnaire, put down what you know they want to hear and spend an hour with a psychologist asking you generic questions about your expectations from weight loss surgery and boom, you're cleared just like that. no follow up, no 2nd, no 3rd no 4th screening, no required post op session. its not surprising that so many people struggle with post op eating disorders and body dismorphia issues. the good thing is that we have a forum like this where we can discuss our issues with each other, support each other and hopefully be honest about our successes and our failures with the band. ive seen both of your threads and looked at your pictures countless times and your are both so beautiful and are so giving to share so much of your personal stories and photos of this process on this sight. i appreciate you both and i wish us all total success with our minds, bodies and spirits!

Put me in the "disagree" camp... I don't believe the band is an eating disorder...

that is very interesting that there were five other people in the outpatient support group that also have a lapband- that seems a bit more than coincidence. It is worth further exploration..........

It is interesting but I don't find it surprising.

I think getting to a certain level of overweight is in itself an eating disorder. When you eat to comfort yourself or when you eat past the point of fullness or when you eat 'til your morbidly obese an starting to have co-morbidities is an eating disorder. IMHO...and having a lap band placed is not going to end it for some of us. I am hoping and praying that I won't be one of those people.

It is just like those that have GB and regain the weight.

This weight issue is very, very complicated and I really don't think it will ever be cured or truly understood.

I wish the best for the OP and I hope you are able to come to grips with your situation.

You truly do look great. Go and enjoy yourself to the best of your ability and as I type that I know sometimes it is much easier said than done.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
