For some reason my vision is worse after my surgery. And I seem to get headaches too. Is this because I am not getting the right Vitamins or nutrients from the pureed diet I am on? Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned.

I have noticed that my vision has been a little blurry for the past few days. i was banded last wednesday, and I keep wondering if its because I am not getting enough protien, or if its from my pain meds.

In your shoes, I'd ask my doctor to check my blood sugar. Skewed blood sugar can cause vision changes.

Of course, lots of other things can too---and the changes may have nothing at all to do with the band.

But checking blood sugar is simple, and as good a place as any to start.

Good luck!

I had slight blurred vision right after surgery also. It goes away pretty quickly. I could not read very tiny lettering, but I attributed it just to the surgery. It did go back to normal!!

Hi! I had surgery 6-16-2010- on a Wednesday. On Friday, I think I was finally alert enough to realize I wasn't seeing very clearly- so I stopped taking the pain meds (because I thought it was making me totally loopy!). So anyway- it wasn't the pain meds, my surgeon and my eye doctor (after everything was checked out) that it was a lingering effect of anesthesia. Today is my 6 week post op and I am about 95% better!

I had blurry vision after surgery due to the ointment they put on my eyes during surgery to protect them. After a couple of days the doctor said since it was not clearing up on its own to rinse my eyes with eye drops or saline solution. Two days of rinsing my sight was back to normal.

I also have had problems but I think mine are related to blood sugar but it would be great if it were just anesthesia. About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and one of my signals was blurred vision. I started an oral med immediately and when sugars stabilized I went to the eye doctor. She told me my diabetes was masking my poor vision. My eyes eventually settled into not needing any help. Now since surgery I've needed readers. But my sugars have consistently been below what they were pre surgery and the lowest fasting sugars I've had in years.

I'm glad you asked this I was wondering the same thing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for anesthesia to be the reason. I'd like to go without my glasses again.

Also some times they will put a Scopalomine patch behind your ear before surgery. It keeps you from having nausea and vomiting but it also will cause blurry vision and you just have to wait for it to clear up on it's own.

I just had my surgery on Thursday. My vision was fine until I woke up today. I am having a hard time seeing anything on the computer and phone. It is like my eyes can't seem to focus anymore. I am also a little on the dizzy side. I do hope this goes away soon! But I'm glad to see on here that I'm not the only one experiencing these problems.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
