When is the band full?

When is a band full?

I had my band 3-6-09. My starting weight was 279 and my current weight is 196. I have a 10cc band and I have had 6 fills.

I have been keeping track of my fills and either I have done it wrong or something is not right. I have a 10cc band. But I have had 10.7cc in fills. I was told that I would always (over the years) be able to get fills. Where does it go? Does it just evaporate?

My last fill in May 2010 was 2cc. For the first time, it was too tight. I had to have 1cc taken out 3 days later, which puts me at 9.7cc. I could not even swallow a sip of Water before I had some taken out. I felt awful and had to make a 2 ½ hour drive feeling bad and very weak. I was still left with an extra 1cc for that visit, yet I was more hungry than before and able to eat more. Now I am worried that my band is full and I can’t handle anymore fills, but I have a lot more to lose and still need that lifelong help that the band gives me. I have an appointment to go see my doctor (2 ½ hours away) and I want to get a fill, but not if I am going to be miserable. I can’t just drive 20 or 30 minutes to have it taken out. Is there a way to know if my band it full or if I can have another fill? I have heard that you can have an x-ray. Does that help? Has anyone else been through this?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
