Strange question...

Hey Pearlgirl,

If I've read everything correctly, you've gotten one fill so far. After my first fill, I felt a tiny bit of restriction, but not too much. I could still eat pretty much anything I wanted (although I didn't allow myself to try bread until a few months after surgery). I've had about 5-6 fills, am around 6-7 ccs, and I haven't had a "stuck" episode, or even PBd. I can definitely feel when I've had enough. Sometimes though, it isn't until about 10-15 minutes after I've quit eating, then I realize I probably shouldn't have had the last couple of bites.

Getting the band and living with the band is a learning process. Each person's band and body will react differently. Some will feel restriction from the moment the band is placed in them, others will feel it after a certain amount of liquid has been added, and still others may never feel restriction.

The important thing is to give yourself time to listen to your body, get your adjustments, and see how it goes. It's been almost 11 weeks since my last fill, and I'm going in Monday August 2 for my next fill. I'm averaging 1.58 pounds lost per week since my surgery on Dec. 17. In the beginning it was more than recently. I have about 134 pounds total to lose, and as you can see, I'm now on the down side of the hill.

Good luck with your journey!

Thanks so much Becky and Melinco for your responses. I felt like I was going crazy because no one was getting what I was saying. They were taking my words and twisting them. Becky you put it perfectly. I just want to know that the darn thing is in there and working. I dont understand getting the band and not wanting some consequences. I mean honestly I dont want them but I obviously need them. Thanks for you responses.

Melinco...you eased my worries. You are right I have only had one fill and I can eat anything. I don't. I eat healthy and know that I am kind of doing it on my own until I get my restriction. So it was good to hear you story. thanks so much!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
