weighing food

Recommended Posts

hi.

do you guys weigh your food? my doctor suggested it, but i am not sure i fully understand. take Breakfast for example. I made turkey bacon and eggs. weighed two pieces of bacon and one egg and it was 2.5 oz

I got some precooked chicken and wighed out a portion of 2 oz and it just seems like there is more than 2 oz. i'm just confused...and curious what you guys to do ensure you are eating no more than 6 possibly 8 oz.

I weigh meat and measure veggies.

So I have 2-4oz of meat serving

1/2 cup of non starch veggie

1/4 cup of starch (rice, potatoes, corn, etc.)

I don't weigh it on the scale any more because I am pretty confident I can do it by eye now.

I didn't weigh my food to ensure I am eating less than any amount. I weighed it so I knew how much I am eating.

Don't stop eating after a certain amount. Stop eating when you are satisfied and record how much it was.

Next time you go for an adjustment tell your surgeon or his staff this and they will have a better sense of whether you need a fill or not and how much.

I either weigh or measure. I was told either 1/4 C or 2 oz. For things that are easy to measure with a cup, egg for example, I use the measuring cup. If it is something that is easier to weigh, slice of cheese for example, I do that.

If I'm out for dinner, I'll guesstimate it and then eat less than I think. If I get full before i eat the whole 2 oz or 1/4 C, I stop.

If I didn't measure or weigh, I would probably really over estimate and eat too much.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
