Accountability thread for October Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Our surgi-versary / band-versary is in 3 months or less and I feel that an accountability thread will encourage / motivate us to set goals for ourselves in preparation towards our 1st anniversary. I know I need this and I am going to keep it going until October. Please join me if you can or chip in with encouragement / guidance at any point since it is most needed.

Of course bandsters from other months who wish to do so can join in. I know that some of us would have reached their weight goals already but they can set other targets. Any goal goes, be it dietry, weight, exercise, cloth size etc.

I will start by reporting that I had my surgery on the 20th of October last year. I have lost 65lbs since the surgery (slow but sure) and 79lbs since my first consultation a month before surgery. I always count the weight loss from surgery date so I will go with 65lbs. My weight this morning was 180lbs. My goal is to lose 35lbs more and increase my exercise routine by the 20th of October. I will weigh every Friday and report on what is happening with my weight loss journey intermittently, possibly daily till the band-versary.

Please join me. It will be fun and the peer support will be appreciated.

Group & Goal by Band-versary........................... Achievement .................................Left to go

kcg - 35lbs & exercise

Astrasmom - 19lbs, exercise & being inspirational

Okiegirl79 - 15lbs, diet & exercise

vlp1968 - 12lbs & exercise

LeighaMason - 8lbs & exercise

HDmama - 19lbs & exercise

Hi All. Hope you`re all doing well.

I returned from holidays on Tuesday. I had a fab time despite being tight at times. The 12 hours round flights were the ones I was worried about but both out-going and in-coming flights were brilliant.

I did a lot of walking and drinking of Water whilst away since I was in a hot climate. At a point, I had lost about 8lbs. That frightened me to the core so I became mindful of my food intake and gained about 3lbs back before the end of the holidays. I am currently working on gaining the rest back. Well, I will see how it goes.

Hi All,

How`re you doing? Almost 3 yrs now and it`s still a battle. I`m currently in a yo-yo phase with my weight but I`m working on it. Every now and again I get a kick from the band when I`m being too naughtie. Otherwise, I hardly notice it`s there.

The clothes are getting too tight so to refrain from size-jumping, I`m upping the exercise and cutting down the intake. Hope an acceptable outcome is achieved prior to the bandversary in october.

This rings a bell for me but I`m working on those bad habits now, as of today. lol 20lbs by October could be steep though but it`s achievable. Do you have any exercise routines at the moment? I`ve been naughtie for a while but went for aquafit and zumba today! I can`t begin to tell you how I`m feeling.

Mom2girls, please keep us informed of your progress and i`ll feedback as well.

Prolapse of which organ Okiegirl? Did they say that the band caused it? Yes, I`ve experienced a prolapse but it`s to do with my lower abdomin and I`m hoping that it has nothing to do with the band. Hope you`re alright weightloss wise. Good to read from you.

She said it was the top of my stomach- like the pouch area (I am assuming like it may have gotten streched??). She took some Fluid out and said hopefully that should take care of it...she asked if I was having any issues with acid and at the time I was not- but that has changed as of late. I know I need to call but my dr is over three hours away..ugh!

My weight has been fine..I made it to goal and have stayed there..however- I exercise A LOT..I teach Zumba now so that keeps me active (even when I dont WANT to go, which can be often at times!!)

:D

Hi all i was banded in Oct 2011. It took me 6 months to get a good restriction since then i have lost 25pounds i hope to keep losing a little quicker would be nice. I track using caloriecount i HAVE to track.

Btw a prolapse doesnt quite sound like a stretch it is usually when more of the intended tissue actually works its way up through the band. So yes the pouch is bigger but not stretched.

Lets do this all!!!

I think taking some of the fluid out should hopefully resolve that issue. My surgeon had to remove some of my fluid last year as well due to my oesophagus showing signs of enlargement after an x`ray. He said that should resolve the problem. I haven`t gone for another x`ray yet so I don`t know whether it was resolved or not. I know that taking the fluid out didn`t help though. lol

Ooh teaching zumbais a great idea. You must be fit then. Glad that you stayed at your goal. Congrats.

I am hoping that does the trick as well!! ha!! She said if I started having any issues with acid then I would need to come in for a scope..I was having some "stomach" and digestion issues and my family dr did a ct scan and my lap band dr looked at it and said she saw a problem..

yes- Zumba has changed my life- more so than the band...I LOVE it!! Don't let me fool you..I have some serious issues with food and MUST exercise to maintain..I am an accoutant to I am siiting on my behind 8 hours a day!! I do not know why it is so hard to be good!! I do good a lot of the time but when I am bad I am pretty bad! I do use myfitnesspal regulary and that helps me watch my Protein and calories.

Cheers! Thanks for being such an amazing support system! It is so comforting knowing I have somewhere to go with people that are just like me!!

Frustration when the weight is not falling as fast as you want it to but hopefully the journey will be a little smoother now that you`ve got restriction. Being at the sweet spot is great but not all of us stay there for long. So my suggestion would be you make good use of it. Congrats on the weightloss so far.

I think nice and slow is the way to go...just sayin

Being three years out now I really see that conservative fills and exercising really is best for the body and you will be thankful in the long run. I used to get so frustrated and felt like such a loser/failure b/c I only lost 45 pounds my first year and needed to lose twice that!! I met my goal the next year and I think my body is better for it....

3 days into current challenge and it` going so well. Both eating and exercising plan going strong. I`m mindful though that I`m only 3 days into it. The most difficult challenge today is stopping myself from going on the scale!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
