Accountability thread for October Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Our surgi-versary / band-versary is in 3 months or less and I feel that an accountability thread will encourage / motivate us to set goals for ourselves in preparation towards our 1st anniversary. I know I need this and I am going to keep it going until October. Please join me if you can or chip in with encouragement / guidance at any point since it is most needed.

Of course bandsters from other months who wish to do so can join in. I know that some of us would have reached their weight goals already but they can set other targets. Any goal goes, be it dietry, weight, exercise, cloth size etc.

I will start by reporting that I had my surgery on the 20th of October last year. I have lost 65lbs since the surgery (slow but sure) and 79lbs since my first consultation a month before surgery. I always count the weight loss from surgery date so I will go with 65lbs. My weight this morning was 180lbs. My goal is to lose 35lbs more and increase my exercise routine by the 20th of October. I will weigh every Friday and report on what is happening with my weight loss journey intermittently, possibly daily till the band-versary.

Please join me. It will be fun and the peer support will be appreciated.

Group & Goal by Band-versary........................... Achievement .................................Left to go

kcg - 35lbs & exercise

Astrasmom - 19lbs, exercise & being inspirational

Okiegirl79 - 15lbs, diet & exercise

vlp1968 - 12lbs & exercise

LeighaMason - 8lbs & exercise

HDmama - 19lbs & exercise

What a great post.

I am proud to say that I was banded on Oct. 23, 2009. I have lost 100lbs since my surgery. I have 19lbs to go until the doctors goal which I am hoping to reach by my bandversary but if not that's ok because I have already passed the 50% weightloss in the first year that my doctor said they wanted to happen. I would like to lose a few more pounds after that. I plan to increase my exercise more. I've also been at a plateau for the last 4 weeks and haven't lost anything but the point is I haven't gained anything either. So I hope to get out of this rut soon. My big goal is to hopefully be an inspiration for others along the way.

Good luck to everyone. I hope that all your goals, dreams and hopes come true.

Hello,

10/14/2009 here...

I have only lost 45 pounds and have 45 punds to go until my goal. Talk about slow!! I hope to lose another 15 before my one year check up and I would love to join your group.

Let me ask you this...gove me some examples of your daily menus. I need some ideas for lunches and dinners. Per my doctor's request I do a Protein Shake in the morning...but get burned out sometimes for the other meals.

I was banded in Nov. (the 16th), figured it's close enough. I would love to have reached my goal within the year. I have 19 pounds to go. However the weight loss has slowed, as is to be expected. A goal of 100 pounds is probably more realistic- which means 12 pounds. Great thread- thanks.

I am 10/20 also!

I have 8 pounds to go. My last pound took 20 days to lose, I started a new cross training workout this morning, so hopefully I can be at goal by my bandiversary.

Great thread!

I was banded 10/22/09. I've lost 107 since my first appt (70 pounds since surgery). I hope by my 1 year anniversary, I'll be at my "original" goal (which was 160)....I've since lowered that goal since it still puts me in the overweight category - but if I can get there by my one year, I'll be thrilled. I'm planning on kicking up my exercise and trying some different stuff to get my loss going again - the weight loss has really slowed down even though I'm still doing the same stuff. I'm really not complaining though - I'm happy with where I am and even if I don't lose another pound, I'll be happy.

Hi Hun, I`ve put you down for 15lbs & diet monitoring. Well done for the weight loss so far. I feel that when you have less weight to loose, it comes off slower than average. Considering that you`ve already lost 3 stones, wow!

In regards to the daily menu, I`m currently very tight in the mornings so I start the day with a glass of Water and/or coffee. I will then at mid-morning eat 2-3 oat crackers or half of toasted wholemeal bagel with either humous, pate, melted camerbert cheese, cream cheese, fried or scrambled egg & Peanut Butter (sometimes combine 2 / 3 accompliments). I sometimes have just Protein Drink for Breakfast. I prefer having Breakfast daily but sometimes do not manage to get anything down.

For lunch (mid-afternoon), I`ll have couscous with sardines & salsa sauce or variety of pulses / Beans with lamb mince / corned beef. I also eat sushi. I try to eat a variety of fruits but don`t manage to keep most fruits down.

For dinner, I`ll have breast of chicken / prawns / scallops / mussells / snapper / tilapia with vegetables & rice / couscous / quinoa.

I have greek, onken or fage with honey or a handful of mixed nuts for Snacks. I drink a lot of Water (2-4ltrs a day).

The above items are not exclusive. I just make sure that I eat a lot of Protein and monitor my intake, especially now that I`m desperate for a fill. Almost all my intake are home-made but I`m not always good, I`m occassionally naughtie / mischievious.

Yesterday, for instance, I had porridge with carnation evaporated milk with splenda for breakfast (half came back out) For lunch I had sushi. Dinnertime, I had a few pieces of roasted chicken breast, prawn & raisens mixed with couscous and salsa sauce. I had 2 oat crackers with melted camerbert cheese for snack.< /p>

Hope the above helps, hun.

I`m happy for you too. 70lbs is not a mean achievement. Congrats, quite inspirational, hun. Have you got full restriction? I have put you down for 19lbs & exercise.

These last 8 pounds are a monster, I think because they have been here the longest, but they got to go!

Thanks so much. After 21 days I have finally lost another 2 lbs. So now I have 17lbs to go. I really would LOVE to get in Onederland. Only 3 lbs to go for that. I haven't been there since 1987. I think when I get on the scale and it says 199 I will literally pass out.

OK, I was banded 10/22/09 and to date I have lost 30lbs (182.7lbs). I had lost 40lbs, but was severely sick due to a slipped band and was repositioned on 02/16/10. My fills have been going very slow, my doctor and I do not want to risk slippage again. I must admitt that I have not been eating the way I should, mostly sliders and my weight loss, or lack there of it, reflects that. I just had my 3rd fill on 07/13 and am @ 5.5cc's. I am back on track and looking forward to seeing the results of my diet & excerise. I've been challenged to a 5K in October, so wish me luck. All of you guys have done awesome, congratulations!!! I am so proud of you guys!! I'm planning on also weighing and posting my weekly progress, accountability!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
