What did you eat during the puree stage?

Recommended Posts

I'm on the puree stage for the next 2 weeks. According to the menu my doc gave me I have to eat 7 times a day. Most meals involve dairy, except lunch and dinner where I can have mashed potatoes and some pureed meat and pureed veg. I'm not the biggest potato fan. So I was wondering, what did you guys eat?

I'd love some really tasty and creative meal suggestions.

Thanks! :)

I ate a lot of canned Soups, pureed in the blender. Campbells makes a Cream of chicken Noodle that was really good, and Campbells Bean with Bacon pureed nicely and was still very tasty. I found that Chunky Soup, pureed in the blender, wasn't very good...kinda tasted like gritty brown gravy. Mostly the cream Soups turned out the best.

Also one time I pureed some refried Beans and thinned them out with beef broth, melted some cheese on the top and some sour cream...it was really good. I know, not the best food choice, but at that point I was really craving something "substantial."

Another not so good choice, but something that tasted really good was Stove Top stuffing thinned out with chicken broth and pureed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
