yikes!! I was banded on July 1, and have only had Protein shakes!!!! I would be scared to death of any kind of taco after not eating for so long....after the two week mark, I get the ok for mushies, then softs, but I wouldnt consider a taco , even a soft taco a soft food....I would think like mashed potato like would be more appropriate? you're still healing, so go slow!! and wait a good hour, ok, our docs say 2, dont know if I could do that though, before drinking!!

your still healing so be careful!!

Tips I learned recently... Because of a horrible episode I had over 4rth of July weekend in another city... I have since learned of some helpful tips if you think you are stuck...

1. Chew some papaya enzyme tablets! They taste great and the enzymes help break down the food faster so you cn get unstuck faster!

2. Sip pineapple juice... same thing.. the enzymes

3. Sip something HOT, the heat helps break it down faster.

4. Sip some soda.. the bubbles help break it up.

5. Lemon juice and meat tenderizer.. breaks it up

So far the only one I have tried is the papaya pills you chew. Today I started sliming after tasting some steak I grilled. In about 2 minutes it was better! I carry them in my purse with me everywhere I go! I think it is the best.. logically. I have not tried the others yet... Good Luck... hope this helps!

I don't know if you mentioned it, but have you had a fill yet? I had my surgery on 6/29 and haven't been filled yet so I can't say what could have caused your ordeal. It sounds awful, that's for sure!!

I've been eating real food for about a week and a half now without a single problem. I even had a steak fajita taco (flour tortilla) yesterday and was completely fine. Sounds like you either inhaled it and drank too much with it, but who knows. Nothing like that has ever happened to me, but I haven't eaten fast food yet either. I'm sure it wasn't the food itself (especially if you're unfilled), but just a combo of the mechanics of eating and drinking.

Goodluck and hope it doesn't happen again!

@mommy2P's LOVING THE EDWARD!!!

No I haven't had a fill, and I frankly can't see me needing one. I am only able to eat a small amount of food. I have just taken it easy the last 2 days and only doing liquids. I have a check up on Wednesday, so we will see how that goes!

Not only can the flour tortillas cause problems for some, but the hamburger in the taco can be an issue, also.

I had one of my worst stuck episodes on loose hamburger we had cooked for tacos in corn tortillas.

I was stuck for 5 hours sliming and vomiting. Called my surgeon the next day. He said hamburger is up there on the list of stuff that gets stuck.

You are probably tighter today from the trauma of the other day. Take it easy for a day or two and you should be feeling better. Sorry your first episode was in public. Mine was, too.

Welcome band-land. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Wow this the first time I heard two hours!! If you do that, how the heck are you supposed to get 64oz of Water consumed in a day???

As for the yogurt...you are probably a little inflamed because of the taco situation. I can't eat wraps either. I would suggest going on fluids a couple days...drink some ant acid as well and then introduce soft mushy food again. Best wishes.

wow, maybe its me?? I cant believe folks are eating real food a week or so out from surgery?!?!? my doc says 2 weeks, but even with variations on docs orders, I wonder, doesnt your stomach need time to heal??

and OMG...5 hours of sliming...I am scared to death!!

I'm prolly the crazy one..but I am kind of afraid to eat!!! two weeks out tomorrow, and all I've had is Water and Protein shakes...still pretty sore, too, although with my lifestyle, I have no choice but to do some lifting (my youngest triplet has cp..he's only 3 but solid!) so maybe thats it.......take care!

Thanks again, for all of your suggestions! Again, I wouldn't be me if I didn't try to push it sometimes! lol! I'm feeling alot better today, still doing the mushies until I talk to DR tomorrow, I'm so scared he is going to fuss with me, but if he does then I will just have to take it! :grouphug: But lesson learned, it seems the only way I learn stuff is the hard way! lol!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
