Not going to beat myself up over a slip up

Recommended Posts

Waiting for insurance approval is killing me!!!!

Yesterday was not my best day diet wise. Got out of work early before noon and my boyfriend was also off yesterday... we rarely get days together lately!!! Got home and we decided to go out for lunch. We went to our favorite place- the chinese buffet!!! I KNOW. Chinese food has been our "thing" since we met in college (14 years ago!) so I can't give it up. I was good though!!! I loaded my plate up with chicken and broccoli... I did pick most of the broccoli out of the tub for my plate... rude I know! Also had 1/2 an eggroll and a skewer of bbq chicken.

SO, lunch was a splurge but not too bad. No rice, or lo mein or anything fried.

I'm in the northeast and it was almost 100 and super humid. Our apartment was wired for electricity in the stone age and we trip the circut breaker if we run the AC and ANYTHING else in the living room. But with the heat this week the whole building was using power like mad and kept tripping it and I wasn't going to cook in that heat and risk tripping again so we ended up ordering the pizza...

Not mad at myself for lunch. I ate a ton of broccoli and passed up on my other favorites. But I am upset with myself for the 3 pieces of pizza I had... (2 whole pieces and then I pulled the cheese and veggies off of the 3rd to eat). Got to make sure we have turkey in the fridge for hot nights like this!!!

But... it was damn good pizza!!! Can't wait until I'm banded so 1 piece of pie is more than enough and it won't be so hard to have that whole pizza staring me down!!!

So, back on it today.

Yeah, don't beat yourself up about it. Everyone has slip ups. You just have to take it day by day.

After you get to you sweet spot with the band, you may not be able to eat one piece. I can't eat anything with bread. It gets stuck. I miss it some times, but I know it will be worth it in the long run.

One thing to consider when you need to order out is a pizza place that has grilled chicken/veggie sandwhiches. You can ask them to make it with little to no oil and one piece of cheese (no cheese if you are really strick). FYI one time when I asked for less cheese than they normally add I was asked "well we normally do 3 slices how many do you want?" Three slices!!!! That's like 300 calories plus the fat. Also if you get it on syrian bread that cuts like 200 calories as well. May sound gross but I use ketchup instead of mayo a lot less fat and calories.

Also as much as I love chinese and I do eat it when my friends from work go out for someones birthday; eating the buffet is still going to be bad nutritionally. Some chinese places deep fry the meet and veggies to cook them really fast and then add them to a stove top pan with the sauces. So even though you think you're eating heathly veggies they've been deep fried. I also saw on TV that a study was done that showed that people eat less at buffets if they sit with their back to the food. Also that you should walk around the whole buffet then go back and pick up your favorites. Otherwise you pick up things you don't like as much before your favorites but you eat them anyways.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
