Filet Mignon 5 days after first fill?

Recommended Posts

I am getting my first fill on July 12th and July 17th I am going to a wedding. I ordered the Filet. Now I am scared that it will not go down because of the fill.

Anyone able to eat this? If I do my small bites and chew.. should I be good? Just don't want to be embarrased at the wedding.. ugh.. The other dinner alternatives are Pasta and chicken breast.. and I think they would be harder to manage! thanks for any advise...

I had my first fill June 20th and I was really tight for a week or so after. There was no way I could have eaten filet. 2 weeks out and am able to eat just about anything I THINK, but I havent tried filet yet. Mostly fish, bacon, & a little chicken.

Pasta cut up is probably a better choice.

I noticed no increase in restriction for my first fill, which I think was 2 or 3cc. It took me almost six months till I achieved good restriction, so steak would have been fine for me. Everyone is different, so you won't know until you get the fill.

I think Pasta would be by far the safer and easier option.

If I draw from my experience, filet mignon would be fine. I experienced no restriction after my first fill. I had 3 cc put in at time of surgery, and an additional 2 ccs added at my first fill.

Given that limiting carbs is a good idea, I'd stick with your filet. You'll know how you feel before you sit down to the meal. If you have had any restriction leading up to the event, just politely ask the server to bring you somethign else, as you are not feeling well....they will likely be able to accomodate you. Personally, steak goes down easier than chicken for me. Also, you're at a wedding, so you can pace yourself with small bites that are well chewed. All the best

Id go with the Pasta. It is softer. Carbs are not some kind of enemy. Everything is fine in moderation unless it is hard to digest like steak. Eat lightly during the day as you know there will be a lot of food and then after the mains are served concentrate on dancing.

I'm 5 months out and still couldn't eat a filet if my life depended on it.

My 3rd fill was a killer though. I eat a lot of fish now and I do just fine with Pasta.

OMG! I am 14 months out and I have not had steak, of any kind, since before surgery! I will have a few bites of the occasional ground beef or ground turkey but NOT steak. This was one thing that had been stressed to me in pre-op education - that for many bandsters, they cannot eat steak or white meat chicken or stringy veggies or soft/white bread/bagels any longer. Ever.

If I tried to eat any of those things - I would be vomiting for days! They just won't go down.

What did your surgeon or nurse practitioner tell you preop?

I have to say, though I was a huge steak eater before the band and now -- I don't even miss it.

Personally (your mileage may vary) I would see if they have a fish entree you can eat.

Before I answer your question, let me just say that everyone is different with restriction. Some people have trouble with steak and no problems with Pasta and for others it could be both or the opposite. It also depends on whether your doctor believes in aggressive fills are tends to me on the cautious side.

My doctor is on the cautious side. My first two fills were 1.5cc and I could eat everything until my fourth fill. Even now I can eat steak but do remember to cut very teeny tiny pieces and chew, chew, chew. Since it is a social event, try to pay attention to when you first start feeling full and consider stopping sooner than later. Have fun!

After my first fill I could still eat a tender steak as long as I was very careful about chewing. Now I have had a lot more trouble with it, so when/if you may reach that point is hard to say. I can't eat Pasta either, and being high in carbs I don't really try - you want Protein. Fish is easiest for me, but I can manage chicken at times too. Always have to be careful to chew and eat slowly though. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone I am going in with a plan... If I can't eat I will ask for a fish if they will do that... If not.. I will just take it home... and eat a little of what I can.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
