Waiting on insurance approval and it makes me sick to my stomach

Recommended Posts

Still no word yet... almost 2 weeks now. BUT, last Friday evening my PCP called while she was writing the letter to insurance... don't know if it took her a week to get to it or if my surgeon's office took that long to get it to her, but hopefully it will all be in order this week! Fingers crossed for the 2nd week of august (As daycamp is over that week and I would be home the following week with the kiddos)

UHC. Making me bonkers!

I took me a year to be approved by insurance. Every time I thought I had completed all of their requirements, they would add something else. They suck, but you just have to keep playing their game. Just hang in there. Good luck.

I'm on the border as well...bmi of 39 and no co-morbidity. My insurance BCBS requires 6 month documented diet and exercise, psych eval, nutritionist eval. I'm scheduled to see my primary doctor tomorrow...I don't have much of a relationship with him (I saw him for a sinus infection 2 years ago and have only been living here in this area 2 years). I'm afraid he will try to balk at helping me, talk me out of it, etc. I'm just so tired of being fat. I want his cooperation on getting the 6 month show on the road, so to speak. Anyone else have this experience??

5'2; 212 lbs.

Congrats to all who have been recently approved!! I'm still waiting. It's been 2 weeks and I thought I would have heard by now (my surgeon's office said 1-2 weeks) so I did call and leave a voicemail. Just asking if everything was going well and if I needed to do anything more. Maybe it's just a little reminder and things will get going now!

Well I just called my insurance company again. They officially received all my predetermination papers on 7/12. They now have until 8/11 to make a decision. I hope they approve me and I hope they do it before then.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! This process may turn me into a nutso! Called my surgeon's office and left a voicemail today just checking in- asking if I needed to do anything on my end (it's been 2 weeks since they gave OK). No call back, but wasn't really expecting one. Just called insurance to see if they had received anything and they did!!! BUT, they got something for INPATIENT when I was told it would be outpatient, AND it's missing information and they can't process it. They just got it yesterday...

UGGGG. So I will call ins again tomorrow late morning and re-check. If still missing stuff I'll call dr AGAIN and tell them exactly what insurance told me.

I just don't want to be a crazy pest!

BUT, the insurance person did tell me they put in for August 30th. Don't know if that's my planned date or if they'll move it up once there's approval. I was hoping for a couple weeks earlier but I can live with that!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
