well i had my first fill yest. was instersting lol. thank goodness i really didn't know exactly what he was going to do because i would have been a basket case lol. i have a dislike for needles. we talked and then he took us back to the fill room. i looked over and he had the needle and syringe and i told myself to look away and look away very fast!! gretchen (my nurse) told me to lay on the table with the pillow under my back. no biggy really. i had to do the crunch position. i had to laugh because he told me to cross my arms across my chest and start to do a crunch. nice...if i could really do a crunch would i be over weight??? lol but i did it. he did have a proble finding the port. i didn't watch him either. looked at the ceiling, at gretchen and then look at his face. he was looking off like he was deeeeep in thought. what i didn't realize till my hubby told me later is that he was taking the needle up and down. ok thats the part that makes me cringe . he did the 4 cc fill and i drank my Water and was on my merry way. i got back in 6 wks to do another fill. and i have no earthly idea why i took it upon myself to go to youtube and look up lapband fills. holy cow batman!!!!! i could only watch 2 and that was more then plenty for me. usually stuff like that doesn't bother me one bit- it's not me lol. last night and today i am on liquids. i am sore and just feel blah. it's rained here off and on all day so maybe thats part of it. but i just keep chugging along doing my thing. :)

You didn't mention if it hurts or not!

lol sorry about that. the initial poke of the needle yes but nothing else hurt. was uncomfortable but didn't hurt. it reminded me of giving blood...just in a semi crunch position lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
