I had the band placed a few weeks ago. MY stomach reacted very badly, swelling, adema, etc.....I couldn't eat or drink anything. after 8 days in hospital on IV's they decided to take unhook the band but leave it in......Now they want to schedule another surgery to reattach it within the next few weeks......My question is.....what makes them think that my stomach will react differently this time?

Could simply be that now your body is used to the foreign object in your body so it won't react so "extreme" to it being banded. But it is a great question for your doctor.
