Who has really pushed themselves exercise-wise?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Ada! It took me months to motivate, but for the past 13 months, I've been working out like a fiend! I started by joining a very intense Boot Camp program and have stuck with it for more than a year to date. I do yoga on Saturdays and just joined a spin studio (here in NYC) called Soul Cycle. It's intense!

On Saturday, I did a 45 minute spin class, followed by an hour of yoga! Then was back at spin again on Sunday. I never thought I would be the kind of person who would enjoy working out so much, but I am. I'm so surprised and happy that this change took place, and it's made a big difference in how my body looks.

Best wishes,

Catherine

Sorry to hijack this thread for a moment but...

Catherine - I go to Soul Cycle too. The uptown ones. Who are the good instructors outside of Stacey? Where is your bootcamp class? I'm formerly a big exerciser and need to get back on the horse. Congrats on your success!

Uh, after reading the posts, I'm clearly not in this club yet. It will be a goal of mine to actively participate (i.e., high impact cardio) by consistently upping my elliptical workouts. I'm doing a minimum of 45 minutes a day and about 90% of that is at or a little above target heart rate. I also do upper body weights 3 x a week (trainer-built plan). I added Water aerobics on Saturday mornings until probably August, when that won't give me enough of an additional workout..

I've gotten to this point after going to the gym every day for the last two weeks. I was banded 5 weeks ago and I think (?) I'm doing pretty well? I plan to add core and lower body when the surgeon clears me and add classes or additional cardio as I am physically able.

Two months ago I could not walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath. Now I run them a couple times a day (this is at work). I know I will need to constantly up this effort and in a way that makes it part of a lifestyle change, can work it into my work schedule of 50+ hours a week and not a daily chore.

:scared2:

Hey Again! Thanks for all the replies. Its great to hear what you all are doing and your advice too. The other day I also ran across this article:

10 Minutes of Exercise Yields Hour-Long Effects

(just wanted to add, read the article, don't bother watching the video, the video is just a bunch of fluff and doesn't tell you what to do)

If any of you are on the Mercola mailing list, you know his advice is generally very good. This fitness routine he is recommending (peak fitness) sounds really interesting and different from anything else I do. And, it only takes 1-2 20 min sessions per week. So, I think I'm gonna give this a try (in addition to what I'm already doing) instead of adding two more one hour low impact cardio sessions. This will suck up less of my time and hopefully push me in a different way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
