8 days post op and just lifted my sleeping daughter off the floor and put her down in her crib...

What are the risks of lifting after surgery..this doesnt cause your band to slip right?

Im a little nervous...:smile2:

I was given a 35 pound weight limit for 6 weeks post surgery. Be careful and if there is any question whether or not you should be doing something, call your doctor!!!

Good Luck!

Did your surgeon not tell you of workout restrictions? I know every doc is different. For me, I was told not to lift anything really until 2 weeks post op. 2 weeks post of I could start working out, lifting no more than 10 lbs. Then 3 weeks post op no more than 25 lbs, then at 4 weeks I had no restrictions.

It is possible that you could tear some of the stitches.I know someone that this happened to and she was in lots of pain.

You DO need to be careful.

I threw a 37 pound bag of dog food over my shoulder the day after surgery (not thinking) and if hurt like a bitch but I didn't do any damage.

You should be fine as long as it don't hurt.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
