Less restriction AFTER a fill?

Recommended Posts

I had a small fill this past Wednesday (half a CC) and, ever since, I've felt less restriction than I did before the fill.

Prior to the fill, I would get resistance often (not to where it hurts, but to where I'd need to wait 15 minutes before continuing to eat or else it WOULD hurt... like it just needed to loosen itself up).

Since my fill, I haven't felt that resistance at all. As far as my hunger goes, it's kind of hard to tell. I've been "getting back on track" with my weight loss, so I've been eating less anyways. I don't really notice a problem with hunger and I'm eating smaller/measured portions anyway.

I don't have any issues with feeling less restricted, I just think it's strange that I went from feeling resistance everyday to not feeling any kind of "stuck" feeling at all.

This isn't the first time my band has played tricks on me, lol. Although the last time it was the opposite. I wasn't feeling restriction, so I went in for a fill. 30 minutes later, I was in excruciating pain and had to get an unfill. They ended up taking more out than I came in with... and after that, I had restriction. WTH?

I too had my first fill and since then have been able to eat pretty much as much as I want to without feeling full. I plateaued immediately after the fill and have gained 5 pounds since. I just scheduled my 2nd fill for late July. Hopefully I'll find my sweet spot soon. Good luck to you...I think so may factors affect our restriction etc...as our bodies are constantly changing inside and out when we lose weight. Best wishes you are doing GREAT!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
