Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Would love some help along the way!

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have just joined this site and its fantastic! The buddy system is such a great idea, I know I would really benefit from some support.

I am due to get my band on Monday and I'm torn between really looking forward to it and excited, to being very nervous and scared!

I have been following a 1000 cal diet for the last week and have lost 8lbs so far, so I am feeling quite positive. My first target is to get to 168lbs, if, or really I should say when , I get there I will decide if I need to loose some more.

My life is about to become very hectic over the next few weeks as in just over 4 weeks I am emigrating from the UK to Maine USA. I realised that if I didnt get this op now I never would. I have psos and have fibromyalgia so after the last few years of being unable to be active the weight has just crept up and up.

I am married with 3 kids and I am doing this for them as much as myself, I want to me the kind of person who takes part in life instead of watching from the sidelines.

Best wishes to all of you on this journey.

xxx

Hi Finallyncontrol

Thank you so much for your offer of advice, I am sure I will take you up on that very soon lol Where in Maine are you from?

You have so well with your weight loss how hard have you found it?

My stomach is in knots! I am dreading tomorrow :smile2: I think the thing I am worrying about most is having to do it on my own. The hospital is 2 and half hours away so they are sending a car to collect me at 4.30am. As I have got 3 kids my husband has to look after them and I havent got anyone who could have them overnight. I know its silly worrying but I just cant seem to relax, I am sure I will be fine once I get there.

Wish me luck!

xxx

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
