Buckeye, bacon? Wow, I still have issues with bacon, all the gristle. I love it, but rarely eat it. When I do, I pull off just the meaty part and chew it like a feind.

I take off the obvious fat, but chew it up and no problem

I chew it like a fiend, even....i before e.... Even tiny bits give me troubles. Just goes to show you, even with docs orders, we are all different in what our bodies can handle!

Regina...bet the mashed potatoes were yummy, huh? My first mushies were awesome!

Applebees has fabulous Soups that taste awesome and are filling. I am hooked on the Tomato basil, it is to die for! It has helped me a lot!

I'm 11 days post-op. I was on Clear liquids for 2 days, and am now on full liquids for two weeks (one week to go). Then on to soft/ground meats, etc. (Although I think the "meat-grinding" will have to be done with my teeth, not a blender, lol).

It is interesting how different doctors vary in their instructions to patients. I'm motivated to stick to my doctor's instructions, though. He's a nice guy and very concerned about his patients, but there is a very high accountability factor and I don't wanna get a lecture! Actually that's very good for me. I need the accountability and it makes me feel pretty safe.

If it's any consolation, I'm hungry too! But every day gets better. Hang in there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
