I never have trouble eating popcorn. It is kind of like salad... even though the volume seems big, it chews down to almost nothing. Have fun and enjoy your popcorn!

I have eaten it a couple times with no problems. I like to take a Protein Shake with me to the movies.

No problem at all eating popcorn. I'm eating a 100 calorie bag as I type.

The only issue I had with the popcorn I had at the movie was the price! :(

Got a small bag and a bottle of Water last time I went and it was $10.50!

Next time I am sneaking in a bottle of Water and a packet of crystal light - love the lemonade.

I got really stuck on it once and haven't had it since. However, after reading all the replies here maybe I will try it again. I would say I was eating too fast at the time. That seems to always be my problem when getting stuck. I am learning slowly to slooooooow down!!! Best wishes!

Hello to all.

My husband was just banded on June 2nd.

So he is in his full liquid post op- week 2

He is handling Soups, puddings, Jello and yogurt and Protein shakes well.

He is noticing now that the swelling of his stomach has gone down some, that he is feeling hungry more often. He doesn't go to have his first band fill until 5 weeks from now.

He is doing an ok job of following the full liquid stage. He ate part of a soft pretzel and said it felt ok, what other foods have you had problems with sticking? Our nutritionist told us to stay away from popcorn and nuts, and fruits and veggies later on with skins and corn because it can cause the band to slip etc.? Thanks for your help. We want to adhere to the nutristionist, but he is getting bored fast and I don't want him to hurt himself. confused in jersey

Sincerely Lisa

Hi Lisa, Your husband should follow the doctors orders. That being said...I have problems with popcorn, green bean, breads and pastas. What your husband is experiencing is normal. The swelling has gone down and he may be hungry for a while until her gets some fills. It's important to measure the food and count calories in the beginning so you don't gain weight. Now that I have restriction I don't have to "diet" any more and it's easier. Some foods that I transitioned on to in the beginning were scrambled eggs, Cream of Wheat, creamed soups, or I would add some fruit to my shakes. Hope this helps! Best wishes!

My stomach was having summer salts the first time I had popcorn... it passed really quickly but I was nervous.

Shouldnt be a problem though!

popcorn was on my Doctors no-no list so I haven't even tried it. I take a Protein Bar or a Protein Shake to the movies with me while the hubby does all the munching on popcorn. It doesn't bother me a bit. Maybe you could take something a little more healthy to munch on.

popcorn, nuts, fruit with seeds, and some veggies with certain skin types were all on the do not eat list for a good 6 months. Then others were okay after that with some rules around them (only eat the top, not the stalk, no skins, well coooked, etc)

I had been doing real well and hadn't had an issue with anything getting stuck (I was counting every bite I took, making sure I chewed really well) and I only have 1 fill in so far, but sure enough I was talking with my husband on Saturday and I didn't pay attention and I swallowed some bread before chewing really well. OUCH. That hurts and I don't ever want to do that again! I can't make myself get rid of it like some can, so it was a rather long ordeal of pain and waiting for it to come back up! I put myself back on a liquid diet for the day and then Sunday stuck with softer foods, I was really sore for a while after that. Not pleasant. But I learned a heck of a lesson!

Nummy have some for me. I didn't want to risk popcorn, so I had a soft pretzel. That didn't work either. But the movie was good! Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

popcorn was on our list of no-no's also in the beginning, now we are able to eat it but only 1/4 cup...really?? Who eats only a 1/4 cup of popcorn! Anyway, I've been eating it since the beginning and I've never had it get stuck. I don't put a whole handful in my mouth, I've learned to eat only one or two pieces at a time. Oh, also, I figured out at our show to get the "kiddie" sized popcorn, it's the perfect amount, otherwise if I get the bigger one, I might be tempted to eat the whole tub! It's weird, but I don't get full from popcorn, does that happen to anyone else?? Good luck and have fun!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
