4 weeks post op and can eat anything

Recommended Posts

the first couple of weeks I had "restriction" and was comfortable just eating/drinking small amounts. Now I am about 4 weeks post op and I can eat anything. I have had no adverse reactions to any food. Amounts of food as well. HELP! Anyone else having this problem???

I also am 4 weeks out and can eat anything except hard boiled eggs!!!! Remember we have no restriction at this time so of course once the swelling goes down we can eat anything!!!! Hang in there a fill is coming soon.

What you're describing is pretty textbook. Do your best and hang tight!

Yes I also can eat just about anything. I won't have a fill for 2 months out, which is early July. I hate feeling hungry & being able to eat a lot. Right after surgery I would get full so fast which was nice. But I have only lost about 5 lbs since surgery so obviously I need a fill.

I had the same problem. When my surgeon puts in the band he does not fill it at all. So when I went for my first fill 4 weeks later I was able to eat almost anything. After the first fill by the 3rd week I was able to eat almost anything again (he had put 3cc in) At the second fill he told me that because of the lost of fat around the stomach the band was wide open again(thats why I could eat anything) He now put in 5cc so he said I should feel restrictions now. I had my surgery on March 30th and have lost 34 lbs so far. I keep hearing people say its takes 3 or 4 fills before you really feel a restriction. Hang in there.

I got banded a week ago. Today my staples come off and my first fill will be next week. My doctor told me that they have discovered that six weeks before the first fill is too long and patients start to feel really hungry and are not restricted so the early fill helps avoid that. I am starting to feel a tiny bit hungry and crave something solid. I hope the fill makes it better. I'm a bit scared but I'll let you all know how it goes.

I go for my first fill on June 14th and can eat anything soft that I want. I did do very well for the first 3 weeks after surgery. I followed the diet and felt full after eating 3/4 cup of food. Now I feel that I'm falling back into my old eating habits and I am very anxious to have the fill done and hopefully feel some restriction again!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
