Slipped - Probably having band replaced....

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I have a slip. It's been three weeks unfilled and hasn't gone back down. So, I'm trying ten days of liquids in hopes that'll do the trick although surgeons don't think so.

When you get your band replaced (they're going to put a bigger band on) do they have to replace your port too? I like where my port is and haven't had any issues with my port. Just wondering.

Please let me know if you have experience with this. For right now I'm going to try stay positive so that my slip will move down and then I won't need surgery.

Sue

Sorry to hear this. As far as I know they only replace the band.If there is nothing wrong with your port/tubing they should be able to connect all that up.

If you get a new band you are paying for the port also. Are you sure you want a new band?

I am sure that I want a new band if mine has to be replaced. I love my band and the new life it has given to me. Having gained 13 pounds since being unfilled makes me sure that I need my "belly cop" back.

If this ten days on liquids doesn't take care of my problem then it will just be a question of how can I come up with my portion of the cost (about $2k) as I was unemployed for 9 months and haven't gotten caught up yet.

I still love my band - I'm just disappointed it's not cooperating with me lately.

Sue;

Have you considered a sleeve? Because you have had one slip, the odds are pretty good that you will have another one...depending upon a number variables, of course, but it might happen again. If you have to put out that much money, well...I would consider a more permanent (and in some people's opinions, better) option.

Sue, I am sorry for your slip and bad luck. I hope you recover fast and don't have any complications. I think you are thin enough to have a mini port put on and I don't know why you couldn't have it put back in the same place.

Keep posting.

My band slipped. I tried an unfill for 6 weeks. Any time it was filled I got dilation again. I had to have it removed and am revising to a sleeve this week. I realized that, even though it worked and I lost weight, it didn't feel great. food getting stuck, sliming, even just normal eating wasn't too pleasant. So my doctor recommended the sleeve and after some reasearch I decided that was the way I wanted to go. Time will tell I guess. I'm not looking forward to another surgery but I'll be happy to have restriction again.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
