Leaking, and needing to talk

Recommended Posts

I just found out at my fill yesterday that I have a leak. My surgeon believes that it is in the tubing, and not the band itself. I am looking at getting a port revision in June. But now I am also having to pay another $2200. I know it could be a lot worse, but it is a lot for me. I am frustrated, and needing to talk with someone who has been through it. Now though, I at least have an explanation for the almost 20 lbs I've gained in the last 2 months. I have been super careful too. I have still been doing my Protein Shakes, and extra Protein Water. I eat lots of salads, and high protein. If I eat a snack it is usually eggs, cheese, nuts, or a little bit of meat. But I have been hungry ALL the time! REALLY hungry. I also work out for 40 minutes a day on my elliptical, as well as the walking I normally do. I guess I am just looking for a little perspective, so if someone who has been through this would like to tell me their story I would very much appreciate it!

Marie,

Sorry I don't have some wonderful advice for you but I just wanted to let you know that I care and I'll put you in my prayers. Sorry abut the extra money I know it can be really tough in this economy. But at least you know what the problem is and it can be fixed. Miss you on the home thread!!

Best wishes,

Kim

Thank you! I am not on the boards a ton anymore, but am trying to be better about getting support. I am glad to know the problem. I have been talking with my husband and he feels that the right direction to go is to have the surgery. I agree with him, so I will be having it the week of the 14th. My Father used his bonus to pay for my surgery in 2008, but he passed away the next April. My Mother has the insurance money and insists on paying for this one as well. So all of my worries are starting to work out.

I'm really glad to hear that. I think it's the right decision. I'm also glad to know you have a supportive family, I know it really helps. But try to stay on the boards, as much as others try to understand I just think it's just easier for those of us that are going through the samethings. Please let me know how it goes. Best wishes

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
