Continuing Problems...help!

Recommended Posts

I had my band removed in dec 09. I had problems with gas, vomiting, 'stuck food", chronic diarrhea, etc. from 6 hours out of being banded. They were never able to find a cause, although my primary doctor said i had all the symptoms of gall bladder issues. My surgeon/aftercare facility always made me feel that these problems were my fault, they told me i must have had these issues before surgery. I was never able to tolerate fills. Its been almost 6 months and i still have the gas and diarrhea. I have searched the internet in hops that someone else had these symptoms and could offer me some answers about how to get these things stopped. I feel like my life is out of control. I have days were i'm cleaning myself 7-8 times...sometimes more. Sometimes i don't know that I have stool on my bottom until I feel the burning and it bleeds from the irritation. Surely i would remeber if i had these problems before banding-its not something I would forget. I can only find the successful, happy stories of lap band success. Once i found a post from a woman in Austrailia that was having the diarrhea every day. i hope i'm not the only person in the US with these issues? :w00t:

Not had this problem but I have had a bout of gastro lately and the diarrhea side of it has hung on for a couple of weeks longer than I expected. I started using Probiotics a few days ago and now it is slowing down.

Gut problems are increased or prolonged by any food containig fat as it takes longer to breakdown and allows the bad bacteria to stay alive until the next meal moves through. Eliminate ALL fat for a few days while taking low doses aof anti-diarrhea meds, Probiotics and drinking at lease a couple of litres of electrolyte Fluid a day.

Good luck

You might need to see a gastroenterologist...or whatever kind of doctor does gall bladder. The bang doesn't do anything to the internal part of your digestive tract but maybe the change in your diet triggered something.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
