Breakfast Struggles...

Recommended Posts

Can someone give me some Breakfast suggestions? What works for you? It's the hardest meal for me as I have to eat on the go, or take my Breakfast to work. My band is tightest in the morning and stuff like corn flakes is unbearable to eat.

Thanks!

I too have to eat at work because I get up so early. I make shakes the night before, eat a Protein Bar, grab Greek yogurt and string cheese, poor omelete mix in muffin pan and have like mini-omelete muffins that I eat off the rest of the week, get a rubbermaid bowl with milk--warm it up and add oatmeal and when it cools some, I add vanilla Protein mix. I sometimes eat that high protein Cereal from Target someone suggested on the boards. I also make Breakfast quesadillas with Southwestern style egg beaters, FF cheese, and a low carb or whole grain tortilla because I can save the rest (I usually can eat one and a half) for breakfast the next day or as a snack. I also eat the turkey smoke sausage and toast some whole grain bread or wrap it in a low-carb tortillas Hope this helps

I have a Protein Shake made with frozen fruit. Sometimes I have soft egg whites with a little lite cream cheese mixed in.

Also I have found if I drink tea or my Decaf coffee first then my breakfast goes down easier.

I am at work very early as well. I try to get a protien shake mixed up as soon as I get up and then sip it at work. I take a 20 minute break at 930 and usually eat a small serving of cottage cheese or a greek yogurt.

I have coffee, then my shower and get dressed. At that point, I can eat oatmeal or some other hot cereal. I can't eat anything more until around 10:30.

At this point, coffee is the only thing I can get down in the morning - but, it relaxes my band and I'm ready by lunch time!

Warmed carnation instant Breakfast drink. You can take it on the go and drink it on your way to work and it also has a fair amount of Protein. I also take a greek yogurt into work and eat it mid morning(around 9ish)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
