Lost My LapBand Decoder Ring

Hey everybody, You know that old saying about "assume" - when you do it, you make an ASS out of U and ME? Well that is what we are doing when we use all these acronyms. Let's be considerate of the new people (and a lot of the old folks!) who do not know what a pb is, or what an NSV is... know what I mean? It excludes the reader if he/she doesn't know that particular acronym.

It might be fun to create a lap-band glossary where we can post all this cool info. Anybody interested in helping me with this? And can anybody tell me what the #!*^$! an NSV is?

Ooops! LOL! Welcome to LBT Allie Lee, where acronyms RULE!!! It's comfy in here, I promise! You'll be short-handing with the rest of us before long, don't worry.

I know how you feel...I looked up the meanings and still type out everything!!! I don't even say the abbreviations when I speak to someone because THEN you have to explain it so it is just easier and more efficient to say it or type it. I think the only thing I have abbreviated on this message board is PB and that's only because the thought of having one is just so disgusting, the further away from it I am the better!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
