Many Many questions

Recommended Posts

1) How much did you pay for brachiaplexy?

2) If your insurance paid for it .. how did you get the medical justification for your arms? did you have to have ulcers? pain? etc...

3) Did you go to multiple plastic surgeons for opinions or just 1 and were you happy with what they said?

Reasons for questions... I am 1 year post op and in need of something- My arms are hideous and my legs are too... I found out that I cannot have my legs done as of yet beacause I still have more weight to loose and need to plateau first... Plus I have Lymphedema which makes me a greater risk for any lower limb procedures.. RE: my arms.. surgeon said they are way bigger than he has seen and will need to do in 2 surgeries no matter if I do 1 now or later .. and also my scar will beon the back of my arm from elbow to arm pit instead of inside due to the huge amount he has to remove. 2nd surgery will be in same scar line... I was quoted a price of 7800.00 and am floored that it is that much considering I will be a "life long" patinet with everything else- My insurance will cover my stomach and legs but so far not my arms and this particular doc said it is not "medically necessary" despite each one needing like 6.5 lbs off !!!!!! So - Do I search for another to prove medical necessity or search for cheaper do I try and find one to do pro-bono do I go to a foreign country/? LOL latter suggestion NOT an option.. Any feedback is appreciated as always!

Hello.... I hear what your saying and I'm now in the same boat as you. My lap band surgeon just informed me Tue. 4/27 that he wants me to lsoe another 30 pounds and by end of summer wants me to start the plastic surgery consult to remove some and most of all my extra skin. I have a very large apron that hangs and he said it appears that we may need to go ahead and remove that after the summer into the late fall/early winter.... I'm a bit concerned since I was under the impression that this would be done at the end once most of the weight has been lost. He seems to be very adimit to get it done about 3/4 way through this process to help me with mobility etc.... So does anyone know why this is and if it's the best way to go?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
