Surgery...this post was posted under the May Bandsters by someone else and I thought it was such a great post and it got me motivated to be able to keep on my pre op diet - it reminds me of all the things I am doing this for.....please see below!

Posted from GSNC..

I figured it was time to start a new thread! I was thinking last night, after you get your surgery and start losing weight what are some things you are looking forward to do that average people take for granted? I am talking about simple, every day things that are hard for you or make you extend a lot of energy.

My list (stacey) Here is what I can't wait to do:blush:

OMG - where to begin!

1. walk up steps without losing my breath!

2. walk without my lower back hurting!

3.Able to play with my 6 yr old without having the above:smile2:

4. Making Love with Hubby and not covering myself up!!!

5. Looking good!

6. Feeling good!:scared2:

7. Wearing a bathing suit on our Cruise in December instead of shorts and T-shirt!

8. Oh and wearing shorts during the summer instead of Capri's....the list could go on and on!!!

Thanks for the great Post - made me remember why I will NOT cheat on my 2 week pre op liqiud only diet!

Good Luck to you all!!!

Great thread....

I have been at goal for over 18 months and I got way more out of this than I ever expected. Too many different changes in my life to list but so happy with the entire LP journey. I guess if I listed one that means the most is that I FEEL so good and healthy and that was what I was shooting for to begin with. I honestly feel and am as active as I was in college (at 54yrs old).

Just starting my journey. Three weeks post surgery and down 30.6 pounds so far (including preop diet). I was glad to read your post. I was feeling like I was 80 (I'm 57) and I hope to feel good and younger again. So far so good.

How much did you lose and how long did it take?

Froggie D...patience is the key. We are all so differnet and lose at different paces. Looks like you are doing great on the weight loss.

I lost 54lbs prior to surgery during an 8 month wait for surgery. I reached my goal weight and my doc's goal for me 4 months after surgery. My metabolism kicked into high gear and I lost another 20lbs after reaching goal without trying.

I now feel comfortable where I am at and can eat a good amount of calories per day which makes maintenance fairly easy for me.

The key is not how fast a person can lose but just to have a steady loss. Most docs say 1-2lbs per week is about the norm.

You are welcome to PM or email me with any questions you might have. I would be happy to share or help you in any way that I can. Good luck!:scared2:

An important piece of advice I omitted from my last post...be very diligent to consume adequate amounts of Protein daily. I have always taken in between 75-100gr of Protein along with a balanced/healthy diet since the beginning of the process. I truly feel this has attributed to the energy I have.

Also, once you get a bit more weight off, you will start to feel that you have some energy. Take advantage of it and keep moving. I live 15 miles from the closest gym and work out of the home. I found ways just around the house to get my exercise on a daily basis...such as...running the stairs in our house, treadmill, weights, etc. Any exercise will fuel more energy and thus you will start feeling like doing more.

I was hoping more people would answer - this really motivated me when I saw it. Anyone else want to share what they can't wait to do when they lose some of the weight??

Here are mine in no particular order:

1. I can't wait to buy clothes in "normal" sizes and not have to shop at Fashion Bug or Lane Bryant anymore. I hate fat clothes! :tt1:

2. I want to have a baby and I want to be at a healthy or at least healthier weight when I do so.

3. I don't want to be embarassed to just plain be in public and feel like people are staring at me.

4. I can't wait to feel comfortable in my own skin.

5. I can't wait to be more active with my hubby in and out of the bedroom

6. I cant wait till my mother-in-law stops making remarks about how it was hard to buy me clothes because she doesnt know what size I am.

7. I can't wait to have more energy and spend hours upon hours in the parks at Disney World and not have my feet hurt.

I could go on forever...

LOL Thanks, Stacey. My MIL has given me many jabs about my weight in the almost 8 years I've known her but she's always tried to disguise them as innocent remarks. Like "You should get some v-neck t-shirts. They have nice ones at (insert any store name that doesnt carry plus sizes) but...oh yeah. I don't think they would have your size." Or one time we had all gone out to eat for my SIL's b-day at the mall and we walked around a bit after that. My SIL, who is 3 years younger than me but acts 40yrs older, was looking for capri pants in Chico's. Now, no offense to the people who do shop there, but I don't like anything in that store. I think most of the stuff is too old for me. So, she's browsing and picking up the gaudiest stuff to try on and my MIL says to me "See Amy? You can shop in places like this when you lose weight." So instead of coming back with a snotty remark like "I'd rather stay fat." I just nodded and said I'm gonna go wait outside with the guys." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I can't wait till I look better than her. That won't take much. She isn't heavy but she could stand to lose 20lbs and never exercises so she's got no shape to her. Am i mean?

I was actually banded March 24th and she was at the hospital in the morning with me, my husband, my sister-in-law, my dad and my sister. She's been pretty great so far. Maybe she's excited to have a non-fat daughter-in-law

I want renewed good health, but that's a very general thing and encompasses so much. Something specific that I've wanted for a very long time now is to be able to visit the Grand Canyon (for the 2nd time) and this time be able to ride the mules down into the canyon. They have a 200 lb weight limit so that wonderful experience was lost to me on my first visit.

this is a great post.

I just want to be comfortable in my own skin. And I want to believe my husband when he says that I look pretty instead of saying thank you then under my breath saying yea right.I want to not be embarrassed by my body.I want to walk up stairs without stoping in the middle. And the in-law thing I want to rub her nose in the fact that I look better than her.Sorry to be so honest!

I am having surgery this Friday. I can NOT wait to....

*Wear shorts in the summer and not capri's

*Shop at regular clothing stores and not Plus Size stores

*Keep my eyes open while making love with my husband

*Play on the floor with my 5 year old and not have to crawl over to the couch to get up off the floor

*Wear a swimsuit of any kind and get in the pool with my daughter

*Fly to see my sister in Olympia, Wa

*Someday take my daughter to an amusement park and ride the rides with her....when she is old enough too!

*Be able to get up in my husband big Jeep without looking like a struggling hipo

*Excercise!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
