Also was banded June 28. I am still very sore. At 66 it will probably take me longer to get back into the swing. I'm having problems drinking 1 oz. of liq every 15 min... I feel full. They fixed a hiatal hernia too and I have a lot of gas so my neck and shoulders still hurt.

Hello! I just got banded on June 21. Hopefully, you're very pleased with your doctor, have asked extensive question and gone to any support groups to talk to others. I did all the above. I was very nervous the day of surgery. I was a straight up ball of nerves....lol Well, they took me to pre-op, my doctor came by and asked me how I was feeling and if I had any last minute questions, the next things I know, the anesthesiologist comes through to give me something to help me "relax" and when I wake up..It's all done! I will tell you that you will experience discomfort. Ask for your pain drugs if you need them and even though it hurts like hell, you will have to get up the next day to start walking. Each day gets a little better. I'm still very sore from my procedure but I'm not where I was. I actually have my first pre-op appt tomorrow and I can't wait to see how many pounds I've lost in the last month until now, know how I'm healing and progressing and when I can start eating solids. The liquid diet will grow old real quick! I'm sick of it! I'm ready for some fish and veggies....lol You will be fine. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you'll come back and let us know how your experience was.

I remember being sore too and actually scared to drink because I didn't know what to expect. I couldn't and still can't tell what full really feels like. I just know I get a tightness in my chest and stop eating or drinking when I do. I'm assuming that's it. I still haven't gone to the bathroom normally since my surgery almost 2 weeks ago. I've only been once since I've been home. I can't wait until I can walk and it doesn't feel like I'm pulling strings. I feel like a puppet but everyday gets a little better. I have to remember to eat on schedule and drink my Protein Shakes. I am doing well with my Water though.

They want me to walk... our house is small but I couldn't bent to get my sneakers on to go outside... belly is very sore. My port is right on the waist line and pants are uncomfortable so I just wear this huge mu mu type housecoat.

I must have gas lodged because I have a tightness in my chest that feels like heartburn and it goes into my back... I just feel very yukky today and lack energy. I'm 66 so maybe it will just take me longer.

I only spent one day in hospital, I tolerate the liquids well. Sipping liquid Tylenol as we speak. It helps with the belly soreness.

Hubby made himself supper and it smelled so good I decided to have some onion Soup broth and it hit the spot.

hello fellow June lapbanders. I had my lapband done in June and so far down 40 lbs. Feel great. People are starting to notice. Wore an expensive suit that I bought about 3 years ago and couldn't fit into shortly after buying it, but now it feels wonderful. Was big snug putting on 2 weeks ago but today looks and feel great!

Have told a few people what I did. I pick and choose who to tell. but I have no regrets doing this. Finally something that seems to work without blaming yourself for no self control.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
