Like many others i have been looking in to banding for about 3 years i finally decided to do it, i had my consultation and booked in i am self pay and am due to have my surgery in about 8 weeks but for the last few months i seem to be obsessing over every little detail. Reading anything and everything and constantly talking about my surgery this and my surgery that i think my bf is really starting to get sick of me going on about it. I guess for me talking about it makes it real and i feel like its really going to happen when i dont i feel like i loose morale? any one else doing the same thing or have i definitely lost the plot? any thoughts...

I know talking about it helps me- they say that you use a different part of your brain when you talk than when you just think. Keeping a journal of how I feel in addition to food and exercise journaling has also been helpful. You definitely haven't lost the plot!

That's why I'm here! My family was sick of hearing about it all! Start following some blogs...there are some great ones out there, they help keep me grounded and not feeling alone.

I did the same thing! Bought a bunch of books, read a ton of blogs, poured over this site, talked to friends and family, etc. There is nothing wrong with that, but if you are overloading your BF, maybe try to spare him a little and get out more of your talking on here or with other friends.

Congratulations on your decision!

Catherine

I haven't talked much about my surguery much just to close friends that will know i am getting it done my problem is work I am afraid to tell my boss or any of my coe workers afraid they will talk behind my back or say I don't really need it I can do it myself don't think they would understand.Haven't figured it out yet about how I am going to ask for time off at work yet its really bothering me.

I think we are all different but I definitely fell into this camp. I needed to read everything I could get my hands on, including technical papers because that's who I am and I need data. There's a lot more available now than when I was banded 4 years ago. books, blogs and web sites are now great sources of information. I also have a blog that many people are finding is a useful source of inspiration and information (just took a peek at Catherines - great job!)

I'm sure I still bore my husband and kids when I talk about my band and banded living, but I have to say chosing to have my band and learning how to work this tool is one of the best decisions I ever made. It's great that we have communities where can get support from each other.

Thanks for the nice compliments, Cindy & Gloria!

Healthy1 -- you are right to be cautious about telling people. I decided to keep my band private from people at work and a few others, and am really glad that I did. It's spared me lots of comments from the "food Police" and while I know people talk about the fact that I dropped a substantial amount of weight, I think it's insulated me from at least some gossip -- and probably from some judgmental comments about WLS as well.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
