Has anyone gone to Dr. Hollis' office for fills? I'm wondering if he'd be cheaper.

Has anyone gone to Dr. Hollis' office for fills? I'm wondering if he'd be cheaper.

Hey ken.

I haven't heard but if you find out I'd love to hear what they say. It would be so much easier for me to go to his office instead of true results. Of course he wasn't my surgeon so he probably wouldn't take me as a patient.

I was banded at True Results. I don't remember the surgeon's name, since he left Houston right after my surgery (I met him the day of, and never saw him again). Haven't been back there since my one-year followup...

but over all the staff seem like nice people and knowledgeable. And I will admit that their counselors seem very willing to talk to you.

But in the end, they are a weighloss surgery mill... they have the job of getting you in, getting you out, and moving on. In my case, after the first couple of months, they were not pro-active at contacting me. At one point, I went for a fill, and they told me my band at stretched. That was the last time I was there. In 3 years since, I never received a note seeing if I had taken their advice, never checked up on me.

Not that I am blaming them. It is the patient's job to follow their plan. As it was, I did follow through, and my band has been working well for those years since... but I didn't feel I needed them to tell me, and I didn't feel I needed to pay $100+ to walk in and have them tell me "you're doing good."

So if you want lap band, they are great. But don't expect them to worry about you... you have to be the one who takes care of yourself.

I too was banded at True Results with Dr.Reilly. I must say this far (since 6/14/12) the experience has been great. True enough they are a band mill, but ultimately the responsibility lies on yourself. I do have free fills for the first year, but I have been researching other fill doctors closer to Katy to be more convenient. There are some that are relatively cheaper and with good reviews within my area. I am a total of basically 28 lbs down from presugery weight!! Anywho, I've liked it so far but I am an independent minded person! Some may do better with a more hands on approach at another doctor! But I love TR-Houston!! Good luck to everyone!!

5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)

I am a self pay and my 1yr of fills included was over in march. I am paying $125 per visit or signed up for a special $250 for 6 months. Can't remember what that was called. It's some payment discount they offered pretty openly. I think you either pay all upfront or do a auto pay. There was a 1 yr option too for $400 something. I had an overfill in April and had to have 2ccs removed. My pouch dilated, etc. long story. Needed a little more time to let things calm down and get back to restriction so I did the 6 months option which was $250 for unlimited visits for another 6months.

Hope to be back in a good place soon. Still like true results. Hate the wait times. It's almost a 2 hour ordeal for every fill.

My first visit was in March and I was banded on July 30th by Dr. Reilly. Very pleased so far. My first fill is scheduled for Aug. 27th.

i was banded at true results houston on june 10 2011. I HATE my band and the nurses always piss me off. everytime i went it it seemed i had a pouch. so i would be put on a 2 week liquid diet, go back, and still had a pouch. after doing that for about 8 months i finally hit my breaking point and decided to start talking about revising to a sleeve. i have been absolutely miserable with my band, severe acid reflux, vomiting, you name it, i have it. i had all my liquid removed in november, and they sent me to dr holliss office in pearland to talk about revision. i just think it is funny though that before i got my band, they said nothing but negative things about the sleeve and bypass, yet now everyone i talk to that works at true results and dr holliss office say nothing but horrible things about the band. im like, why the hell didnt you tell me this before i got banded?? one of the PAs at TR even told me she had the band and wished she would have got the sleeve instead. its ridiculous. and it really bugs me that they never really talked about all the negative things that could happen with the band before surgery, they made it sound so easy and simple. basically, they are all full of sh99 and i advise ANYONE who has not been banded yet to run and get the sleeve!

I was also banded at TR Houston in March 2010. I have NOT been back to them since 2011 because of the same foolishness that you experienced! They also kept telling me that I had a dilated pouch as well and would not give me a fill. I have not had a fill since 2011. Although I have lost all weight that I had planned to(on my own not depending on the fill) i am noticing that I am beginning to gain some back. I wish my insurance was covering the sleeve when I was going through the process because I would have went with the sleeve and not the band!!

Dr. Spiegel, on 5373 W.Alabama Houston TX 77056

I only pay $20.00 co pay. Check with your insurance if they pay for bariatrics refills. I should of done my research first. I would have saved on the refills when they stopped the $40 plan and went to $100. My insurance paid for it all along. True Results, did a crapy job checking or they never did whenever I asked.

Waiting for surgery date…still undecided sleeve vs. RNY

I had the sleeve 9/13/21 and just had a the sleeve to bypass revision on 5/3/23. My HW:321 (I'm 5' 8" tall)and I went down to 254 while doing my 7 nutrition appts required by my insurance company. So just changing the way I ate, I was able to get those pounds off w/o surgery. I have many Co morbidities mixed hyperlipidemia, diabetes, htn, MI due to covid. I had read and done quite a bit of research so I could choose the best surgery for myself and learned previous to my sleeve that someone as heavy as I was and all the Co morbidities I have, it was better in my situation to have the bypass but, my DR. Kept saying I would have the same results with the sleeve. Every time I would see him and say to him that I felt it would be best to just get the bypass, he just shot me down and said the sleeve would produce the same results! Why he kept asking me which surgery I wanted at each visit just to tell me the sleeve was all I needed still a mystery to me????? Let's just say, my Dr. Was wrong you see, the surgeries are both about the same price, but the sleeve is easier for the surgeon to perform so I think my DR. Just wanted the easier since he would get the same pay no matter what. After sleeve surgery I did go from 254 to 226 BUT that's just because you are healing from surgery and can't eat anyway as soon as I recovered! I was starving non-stop. I went right back up and stayed at 248. Still had to take cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds, diabetes meds etc. I'm now almost 4 weeks post op the bypass and feel great. I'm not starving all the time, went from 248 to 220 and doing great! Not only what you just read about my story, you also hear about a lot of people needing revision after the sleeve due to acid reflex like severe acid reflex all the time. So the bypass surgery is the only way to stop This reflux if you acquire this condition after sleeve surgery. The regain possibility is higher with sleeve than bypass so just think about all these factors before you make your decision. I wish I would have just had the bypass and saved myself from having to have 2 surgeries in under 2 years. The bypass surgery was also less painful for me lol! I don't know if the new surgeon was better or what but, I was home the next day. After the sleeve I had to stay an extra night due to the nausea and vomiting all night and for pain control.

Who knew Filet Mignon would make me so sick. Leftovers from Mother's Day.  On the upside..next day I started walking outside a little over a mile without stopping or back pain. That's a bit deal for me considering how inactive I've been for years. Woot woot!

Five-week follow-up for gastric bypass and now on lifetime food plan. No restrictions.  In all that time I was fortunate to get sick only one time, week 1, on Easter. Chicken broth...go figure.
