For the last month or so I have been having a weird pain in my left side about one inch from the top of my rib cage (right near largest incision).

I have never had a fill or seen my band in flouro so I have no idea where things are placed.

The pain is like a sharp pain usually about 30 minutes after I eat. Just a really uncomfotable feeling.

It feels like I can feel my whole band, which I am sure is not too possible, but there is a hard area and i can follow it with my fingers and there is an area where it feels like the tube is.

I have not seen my Dr since Sept and am now 18 weeks pregnant. So, I probably can't get an xray.

Has anyone had this type of pain? It is def. not heart burn or anything like that.

Does anyone know if you have HMO if your referral expires for a Dr if you don't go for awhile? I want to get a check up but because it is so long I am wondering if I am still covered by insurance.

Thanks for the input!

I wonder if your developing baby/growing uterus are placing pressure on the port region from within.

There are lots and lots of weird pains associated with pregnancy, and they seem to peak at the time when fetal growth becomes evident---right about where you are. When you've got a tiny, tiny little embryo, there aren't all that many changes. But as you grow, the stretching muscles and pressure against structures/organs do hurt sometimes.

I think it probably would be a good idea to check with your surgeon to see if this sounds like something he's heard about from other patients who've gone on to become pregnant. I'd be willing to be that you're in good company.

Good luck--what an exciting time for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
