I was banded 4/21/10. Currently all is going ok. I had been thinking about surgery for years but only in a "wouldn't it be nice to do" sort of way. When our insurance stuff went out this year, it mentioned that it covered weight loss surgery. I made an appt and started the process on 2/2/10. After being turned down twice, I was finally approved. The 10 day pre=op diet really wasn't horrific as there is an end in sight. Day 4 was the worst day but then when you reach day 5 you know you're 1/2 there. Now, 2 days post op I am still recuperating. liquid diet for the next 2 weeks but to be honest, I haven't been hungry yet.

Where did you have yours done?

KJH, I'd love to have a buddy to keep up with. I had mine done at Baptist/Integris on NW expwy. Dr. Gornichec was my surgeon. The hardest part so far is getting in all the Water. I'm not hardly hungry and have lost nearly 23 lbs since I started the process 2/2. I know we're only supposed to weigh once a week, but it's too tempting to look everyday.

I was going to Dr. Eldridge , but my insurance denied St. Anthyony's after I had finished everything. Now I am seeing Dr. Keith out of Noman Regional, because it is the only one they would approve. I still have at least a few more weeks before I can get surgery, as long as they don't make me start over. I have lost 17lbs as of today on my own. I know exactly what you mean about weighing everyday. I am the same way.

Are you haveing to drink in small sips too, or is it just hard to keep it down?

Been having to sip everything. I think I overdid it this morning and "ate " too much. I was feeling very full and a bit sick to my stomach. I finally gave in and took 1/2 a pill for nausea. I 'm back to sipping my lunch now (chicken broth with Unjury protein). Congrats on the weightloss. I think it's a little easier to do when you know there's some kind of "end" in sight. The mere fact that you're on liquids only helps too. I've read many posts on here of people who are 1 week out and already trying mushy food. I have to do full liquids until the start of week 2.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
