Lap Band Rookie

Hi everyone,

My name is Shawna and I had my lap band surgery on March 9, 2010. I'm so excited to start this new chapter in my life and I'm looking forward to sharing it with everyone. I am scheduled for my first fill on April 22nd. So far I am down 24 lbs. The pants are already getting baggy. What a great feeling. If anyone has any secrets they would like to share about their 1st fill, I sure would like to hear them. I'm glad to be part of this group.

Hey Shawna...first off congrats on taking the steps with getting the LB and your start to a new/healthy life. Also, congrats on the 24lbs lost thus far.

No tricks really to getting your first fill. Just take it as it comes and try not to worry what it will be like. I have only had 2 fills and both were a peice of cake. No discomfort or pain. Stomach was just a little "stiff" the next day. My doc has no restrictions on food b/4 or after a fill. I was very careful and stuck to very soft foods or liquids for a couple of days just to be sure things were moving smoothly. Just follow your doc's rules and you should sail through it. Good luck!

Hi Ms. Determined,

All I did was follow my doctor's orders.... 3 days of pre-op clear liquid diet, 2 weeks of post op liquid diet and I'm now on 2 weeks of soft solids. The weight just fell off. Good Luck with your surgery.
