....that I'm glad I called for a fill appointment. I go back and forth on do I need one, maybe I'm not working the band right, no I'm ravenous.....and on and on.

Today I had a nice size lunch, and as I'm taking my last bite, I'm still having BAD hunger pains. I honestly don't know what the heck is wrong with me.

Even when I had 'restriction' (or so my doc says), I never have the "not one more bite or else" event people speak of (not like I'm looking for it--I just don't know if I'm looking for the right signals of what full is). I know it's going to feel like it did before, but I don't even feel the full feeling in my chest. Some days, just when I think I have it all figured out, there I go again with the same confusion on what the heck it should feel like when I'm full!

Sorry guys, just needed to vent.

Will I ever figure this out???? :)

THANK YOU! I was banded on 1/13/09 and I feel the same way. I feel like I should have this down by now, but here I am still learning. I am just now getting that "not one more bite feeling" I am at 5.7 on a 10 band, I feel a lot of restriction when I eat and have issues. But I am not losing! Not for 3 months. Tomorrow I have a fill, hopefully I will still be able to eat!

I feel the same as well. I have had 5 fills...I couldn't tell you how much I have in my band. i think around 6 ccs in a 10 cc band. Anyway, I can eat a whole restaurant size salad at a sitting and that is way beyond the 1/2 cup we are supposed to be full at. Today was like a buffet day at my house - just grazed all day. I don't think I have lost a pound since my last appt in March. I go back in two weeks. I am always embarassed to have only lost 2-ish pounds each appt which are about 5 weeks apart.

Anyway, I was banded in November and you still have accomplished way more than me. Congrats and good luck on this fill!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
