Recommended Posts

Hello i am new here. ive had my band for 1.5 yrs with no success(read my info), im ready to make this thing work for me. I was given a fill fri afternoon and I have been unable to eat anything.I am able to sip Water and broth but cant even keep down a Protein Shake. When will this loosen up a little so I am able to eat something? my last meal was fri morning 730 so i am quite hungry.

No, that's NOT normal. You should go to your doctor ASAP and get some fill taken out. You can become dehydrated very easily and don't want to mess with that.

I agree with XxMariposaxX, go to your doctor and get an unfill. I have been too tight to where I cannot get down thicker liquids. Throwing up, heart burn and reflux will follow if you do not pass out first! I had a fill on a Friday and my doctor met me at his office on Sunday to remove a little of the fill.

My doctor's instructions are that, if I can get and keep liquid down, to give it a few days to calm down.

I think you're probably pushing the envelope, time-wise; I'd probably call to see whether s/he wants to see you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
