do you have a secret goal weight???

Recommended Posts

My surgeon didn't give me a goal weight, however the psychiatrist that evaluated me pre-surgery was NOT ok with my stated goal weight of 125. She told me that was definitely too thin, and that 137 was a better goal to work towards, given my frame and bone structure.

I smiled and nodded but you know, 125 is still the number in my mind. Just dont tell my quack that.

I put mine right out there, but I have already heard things like "you'll be too thin", "don't become one of those frail little things", and my favorite this past weekend from my sister, "now I'm the fattest sister" and she cried. What am I supposed to do with that!?

My answer is I will stop when I get to a healthy BMI, I am not in competiton to be the thinnest, I didn't do this to finish and still be considered obese, and for my sister--was that a compliment or an insult? I just asked if she needed any clothes and told her to let me know which sizes!

Pasta: Good for you! You seem to be handling it all very well and rational. You have done something to get YOU healthy and that's all you really need to be dealing with right now. I know some of my friends have tried to sabotage my weight loss out of jealousy. Not gonna happen! I wish you the best!

When my doctor told me I could potentially get down to 190 from 300, I thought, yeah right! Had I been able to drop 75 pounds I would have considered myself a success story with the band.

Well, 190 was 25 pounds ago. I am 6'2 and currently weigh 165 pounds and would actually like to put on some to get back to 200 which I feel is my ideal weight...I know I don't win any sympathy points for that! I am going in tomorrow to have some more fill taken out (I also had .3cc removed in December). I have only had 2 fills since my band was placed in March of 2009 totaling 4cc's.

Every few weeks I experience an entire week where it's like I can't get any food down and it's as though my band has become inflamed or something. Honestly, I'm a little concerned about what the doc may see under fluoroscopy tomorrow.

The point to my story is that if we do follow the band rules we can reach our goals, and in some cases beyond!

rmbj...you've done so well and only you know where your comfort zone is and where you feel best and have a healthy BMI. As for me, my doctor told me my only goals should be to keep the weight off. best of luck to you and everyone else too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
