Neat thread! I'm Abbie. I'm 31 and was banded the day after my birthday, on April 21. I live in Virginia and do marketing and public relations for a hospital. I've been married to my wonderful husband Ryan for almost 4 years. No kids yet, but that is the plan after I lose the weight I want/need to...I want to be healthy before we start a family. So, for now, our only child is a very hairy, rambunctious five-month-old goldendoodle.

So far, I am very happy with banded life and am liking watching the scale move in the right direction for once! I wish you all the best and look forward to going through this journey with all of you!

I'm Lauren and was banded on April Fool's Day. I live north of Houston, Texas with my husband and three dogs...plus a few more now and then that visit..., 2 noisy Quaker parrots, and 3 cats. One adult son stays here with his dog a couple nights a week when he finishes class and is too tired to go on home. I also joined the forum for those of us in their 50's. So far I have lost 18 lbs...didn't bother with losing pre-op. Just made some changes in habits rather than concentrating on a diet, so most of this is post-op weight loss. So far so good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
