For Us Who Have Problems Starting Excercising

You mean a big fitball that you sit on? They're really good for core training, all your core muscles - abdominals, back, pelvic floor. There's a lot of info around on them, but you can do ordinary crunches on them and exercises like push ups with your feet on the ball. The instability it gives you reminds you to engage your core to keep your balance. They're also good to just sit and bounce on if you have a sore back.

I highly recomend the balance balls. Great for core work (abs and such) and just plain fun to sit and bounce on. LOL You can find them pretty inexpensive now too. Like Walmart had one for like 10 bucks. If you have kids you won't be able to keep them off it though. :)

I've been wondering how fat friendly these balance balls are - my boyfriend is wanting to get some - anybody done that CORE SECRETS workout with Brooke Burke? Tell me more about the balance balls & pilates workouts? Anyone got a great workout DVD to recommend?

I think the balls actually make it easier for us heavier folks to do crunches and such. And the biggest thing is, alot of the exercises can be adjusting and made easier or harder for someone just by where the ball is positioned. I don't have a workout dvd for it, but have taken classes where its used and most of them come with charts or booklets of exercises when you purchase it. As far as pilates goes, one of my instructors once said, it takes 10 sessions before you stop feeling every session, it takes 10 more before you start seeing results, and 10 more before others see results.

I have done yoga for about 6 months. We did alot of toning but also some strength work on the abs (alot of abs). I loved it but some of the poses were difficult with my excess flab!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
